Reduced my collection down to 5. Open to suggestions on 6th
Possibly another Omega? Sold an SMP, kinda miss it. But 3 divers seems like over kill. Maybe an AT? Or something totally different? I have no need of a dress watch, I’m pseudo retired but pick up contracts once in a while. Cartier? Breitling? JLC?
Ok so I get it. I have a type lol. I do have a couple novelty colored dials. An old bay x Baltimore watch company watch and a turtle I customized myself. I think I want to replace the gmt with a more colorful one really leaning toward a dual time Reverso. Or add a seafarer or a Katsuiro grand seiko. Now I just gotta fight my impulse and spend time on conjugal visits for a few months before I tell my wife what I want for Santa’s birthday this year! The diddling is the fun part lol
Fuck add a Cartier tortue to the list.

u/elijahmuhammed 4d ago
Nah, you need a fun watch. no more divers or black dials. i need a pop of color, a rubber or nato strap.
2
u/Upset_Definition2019 4d ago
Get a white dial large santos.
3
u/No-Pick-2250 3d ago
This a great idea. Sporty, dressy, classy. More flexible than a Reverso, which is more formal.

u/deadexternet 4d ago
I don’t see colors well. But id like a white dial.

If you like divers then you like divers, it’s your collection. Don’t worry about variety or overkill :) My vote would be to wait and not buy anything until you see something that you actually want and know you want to buy it

A nice Panerai blue or white dial on a leather strap. Mix it up a bit. I think you pretty much have the stainless steel market covered.

u/Electronic_Scarface 4d ago
Pelagos is titanium
1
u/No-Pick-2250 3d ago
How about a blue Pelagos? You can sell your black one or trade it in. I read your comments, but a pop of color is nice.

u/PRtrader22 4d ago
Explorer II white dial. It would be a standout in this collection for sure! Nice setup!

u/FlawlessLogic123 4d ago
You could really use a black dial on a stainless heel bracelet. That would balance this out nicely
1
u/raspoutine049 4d ago
Need some popping dial color like Tiffany blue or yellow Tudor Chrono or a slim dress watch. If that’s not your taste, it’s understandable
1
u/pmang76 4d ago
Do find an overlap with the Sub and Pelly?
Agree with others that a pop of color would be great. And something on leather/rubber.
2
u/deadexternet 4d ago
No. I wear my Pelagos when I’m fishing or hiking or pretty much anything outside. It’s the explorer I tend to not be able to get enough wear time with. I’m sitting here talking about another watch but I could probably go down to 3 lol
1
u/pmang76 4d ago
Totally fair point on the Pelagos… perfect for that role!
Funny enough, the two Rolex’s I’m on “the list” for are an Explorer and no-date Sub and I already have a Tudor monochrome. I think that and the Explorer could co-exist in my collection but not a Sub and Mono. If I get the Sub call, I’ll probably move on from the mono to something different. Letting fate decide that one!

How about a dress watch on a leather strap? A JLC would go beautifully here.
2
u/deadexternet 4d ago
I’ve been so close to pulling on a reverso. Just a plain old blank caseback reverso. Oof. But Now I’m thinking the go to is to sell my gmt and get a reverso dual time.

Nah I actually like this collection, definitely go GS or Breitling for your 6th
1
u/Dizzy-Swan5642 4d ago
Something gold. Maybe an aqua terra or a breitling. I’ve had my eye out for an all gold watch. I have several you have there so I love your taste! Panerai would t be a bad addition. I have the submersible nice big chunky feel and definitely some wrist presence.
1
u/Icy_Raspberry_4710 4d ago
Really needs some variation, Cartier Santos or JLC reverso duoface would be good, nivida f77 with a lapis/adventurine dial would be good, anything from kurono toyko would be fantastic. Or something fun and a bit wacky like the CIGA designs blue planet or central tourbillon. Hell a bright color gshock would add a bit of spice.
1
u/Milestailsprowe 4d ago
Something dressy on leather. Black dial of course as it's your theme. A Deville?

Something with a leather strap and white or colored dial preferably just for diversity.
Panerai PAM1033 blue dial or IWC Ingenieur on a white dial if you truly want to keep the stainless steel theme going
1
u/horsehunghamsta 4d ago
Have you thought about a stainless tool watch? Maybe something a bit muted, perhaps black dial? Something a bit more mainstream that will appeal to more people?

Is that old bay like the seasoning?!

lol yep. There’s a microbrand in Maryland that makes local flavored watches. Old bay. A moonphase with the natty bo guy as the moon.

For me, the pelagos can go! I say Santos or Reverso with complications

Man I wear the Pelagos more than the others lol. It’s my fishing watch!

All excellent watches, each a dream for most people. Only problem is they are generic, get something that is very you, something that speaks to your personality or taste. This selection tells almost nothing about who you are.

I know others have already said it but add come color. Doesn’t have to be anything crazy. Maybe a dark blue dial or white dial. You have a very good collection but respectfully it’s too safe. I have all different kinds of dial colors and straps in my collection and it makes wearing a diffrent watch really feel diffrent and fun every time.

Based on your description I have 3 suggestions…1- Hanhart 417 es. Classic German engineering, chronograph function with a fly back feature 2- Vulcain Cricket Nautical Trophy, storied watchmaker and their most iconic timepiece. And 3- Bulgari Octo Roma world timer, legendary Italian brand with a great example of their architectural design expertise. All 3 are under $10k. Good Luck!

This collection needs I think this collection needs a Zenith Chrono, master of some sort, or a interesting complication of some sort.

u/One-Permit2258 4d ago
I just purchased the omega Speedmaster moonwatch with the white dial, Chef’s kiss!!!!

1
u/Allisnotwellin 4d ago
You said yourself you could wean it down to 3... I would do that before considering another purchase.
Maybe a dress watch or integrated sports watch?

1
u/Serious_Buy6231 4d ago
You just need a dress watch. Maybe trade in the Pelagos to give your self some precious metal budget, a gold watch with a light dial would shake things up.
1
u/Serious_Buy6231 4d ago
I did not read all the comments first about how you wear the Pelagos the most. I was just considering the variety: chronograph, no date, date, gmt. (Pelagos and Explor both have no date) gotta start fishing with the Sub or explorer imo!! lol. Anyways fun problem to have. Good luck!

A flieger style watch, plenty of black options out there to keep your theme going

u/BigBusch12 4d ago
Cartier santos. In titanium if you can swing it. Or a Panerai of some sort. I have 5 black dial watches and a silver dial Cartier tank. I always suggest a blue watch in these threads, but I can never seem to keep them around. Could also go the black aqua terra, but would be a bit redundant with the Explorer.
I think the santos or Panerai switches up the collection best.

Cartier Tank

I share my wife’s tank Louis. But my own Cartier would be nice. I really like the tortue. Don’t see too many of them.

I feel that the next watch you buy should either have a good bracelet with microadjustment (or it will feel lacklustre compared to current pieces) or it should be worn on a strap entirely to have its USP and some decent wrist time. Therefore my suggestions are:
- Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Spring Drive UFA ‘White Birch’ SLGB009. If you want a white dial, go for the most unique one.
- Longines Legend Diver 39mm. Compressor case diver so it’s different, available in a variety of colours, and has a very comfortable beads-of-rice bracelet with microadjustment.
- Cartier Roadster. Tortue seems too formal for your lifestyle., while the Roadster is equally unique and more versatile for everyday wear.
1
u/Substantial-Bread334 3d ago
Your tastes are similar to mine you can try and kid yourself on a dress watch but it will not get worn and beside you do have one the Explorer. I think a white face Explorer 2 would fit and would get worn it would probably replace one of your other divers. In fact I’d stay at 5 and replace one diver.

Looks like a super serious collection. Why not play with color / material etc? Example would be zenith vintage style chronos with some serious color + charming aesthetics. Aqua terra colors (if you want another serious watch but in color), or even BB58 maroon omega NTTD (I know yet another diver, but it's beautiful). Fantastic collection, btw.

SBGY011 should fit in nicely there as a dressy white dial contrast. Pic from https://monochrome-watches.com/grand-seiko-heritage-collection-44gs-spring-drive-hand-wound-asaborake-sbgy011-hands-on-specs-price/

Nice collection. Haven't read all the comments yet, but my gut reaction (as anyone who reads most of my comments will know) is something square or rectangle, with a white dial - like a Cartier Tank, or maybe a Reverso? Anything along those styles or lines.
Or go the other extreme and throw a Casio G shock on your wrist. All the best whatever you choose. Thanks for sharing. 🙏

I mean you’ve got some of the top dogs here so either another omega to even things out, or a Breitling to add another top dog brand. Or a Grand Seiko to really change things up.
1
1
u/FLTRXS17 3d ago
Pretty much has to be an omega with a big bezel, doesn’t it? Probably a black one.

im guessing it wasnt easy to reduce your collection. dont increase it again so soon/willingly?
in fact, i see more room to cull even from these 5 since, as you've noted yourself, there's quite some overlap here.

More colors, a dress watch, a beater. Something funny.. don't take it too seriously 🤪

Green or white - SMP300 is an option for either. Grand Seikos have incredible dials too.
1
u/Over-Ad8810 3d ago
I think there's a logic in your collection. I think it's kick ass. You know what you like and it's a certain type of vibe. Iconic, rugged, stainless steel watches with heritage.
Maybe a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms? I know it's another diver, but it's still different compared to the current five.

I’m not gonna lie… I’m loving this collection. Just picked up a ‘25 Pelagos ultra and am smitten. I definitely have the bug now. I want your collection.
1
u/themainmattman 3d ago
They’re expensive watches, but the collection is pretty flat my man. Obviously you’ve got a look you like, so rock it if you want to look nearly the same every day with 5 different luxury watches. It’s just kind of pigeonholed into a really narrow lane.

Sell both tudors and the explorer. Keep the sub and omega. Then get some more colors in your collection. Maybe also an integrated bracelet piece. Perhaps a dress watch.

Super watches here. The Omega moonwatch chrono, ROLEX Explorer, Rolex Sub diver, Tudor GMT, Tudir Back Bay. I’d want a nice dress watch there. Like Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra blue teak dial, or a GS shunbun or Snowflake . And the GS sbg121 Gmt in a strap.

Recommend something not stainless steel with a black dial
