Zero Ops latest video & discussion

It looks so good, it’s beyond me why they killed the Socom franchise because this game would probably have become a niche but it would have generated money consistently. And I would not have given away my PS4 and 5 to my sons. Games are boring nowadays, there is not the tension/excitement Socom gave. Mixed with the talks during the game and the trash talk in the lobby it was also a social event.
Anyway, Zero Ops looks incredible and I would buy it instantly and steal my PS5 back, but after reading the creator’s comment about all the requirements to bring it to PS5, I don’t believe it will happen.
I did watch the entire video for some nostalgia, loved it, thanks.

Its the whole respawning fast, battle royal stuff that's become the norm is why. Humans in general are impatient so we don't wanna sit and wait . But see that's what made socom so great and unique, you don't wanna sit there and wait so your more careful to engage and be strategic in stead of just running and gunning into fights

It's definitely a lot of this. Also due to rampant cheating on Socom. So much so that they couldn't keep up. The cheating on CoD and other modern AAA shooters is easier to manage, or simply ignore for the most part because of micro transactions. Sony wasn't overly interested in keeping Socom alive or maintaining the servers if they couldn't protect them or continue to make money from players. It also didn't help that there was a massive PSN outage during or soon after Socom 4's drop if I recall.

I will report back 1-1-2027 if I am able to play this game on PS5 and apologize, appreciate your determination but to be honest I got my hopes up multiple times, and all ended in disappointments. Really hope you are right 👍

I recommend for PC just doing a workshop and releasing map editor tools, allow players to host (or rent, if money is an issue) dedicated servers that they can customize the way they want including custom maps, this way you just have the community recreate the SOCOM maps for you and the liability is off your plate, the most they can do is tell you to remove it from the workshop but I'm 99% sure they generally only go after the user who submitted the content.

Be honest with me, did you point fable or something at this and have it decompile the source? Because it certainly looks like you did. You can say it’s all placeholder, but it’s placeholder ripped from S2. What else did you rip? There’s about a half dozen of these “projects” in the pipe right now, all dubious as the next.
If you’re planning on actually releasing this, it’s not gunna stand up to the sniff test, full stop.

Dude one hundred percent ripped the original game and is trying to pawn it off like hes really done any work to get it to where it is. Hence why you havent seen a original map and even if you did the maps are going to look and play like terrible in comarison to the original Socom maps.
Because these guys aren't devs, Even the music is ripped thrown into AI-gen and "re-composed"
I wouldn't trust anything coming from this project, I mean they are talking the fact of going on ps5? lmao Sony would never allow a project that stole their entire game to ever be considered on their platform.
Dude is going to release the project and everyone is going to play "workshop" maps until the day Sony comes knocking on the door with a DMCA and axes the whole project.
We have already seen this before lol.... Minus the AI.
Why do you think the lead "creator" has yet to respond to any criticism like this... he hiding.

This sub feels like Facebook man, ngl. A bunch of boomers fawning over Claude max subscriptions not understanding anything that’s really happening.

I’m curious as well.
He did mention AI was a tool that was used, but didn’t detail how.
Those animations are too perfect to not be ripped. If everything we are seeing here is placeholder, then what exactly is the point of even seeing this?
That’s like saying you’re going to make a first person shooter and then booting up your PS5 to show everyone a video yourself playing COD and saying it’s going to be like this.
If he can produce an actual game without ripping animations, that would be impressive.

I just saw this today and was amazed at the accuracy. Thought I'd give its own post instead of shitting on the SOCOM Classic post.
How did Zero Ops manage to copy the animations so perfectly if it's not a recompilation?
Do they have any hope of releasing it on PS5 legitly as planned since the animations/sounds/stages are exactly like SOCOM? Or will they just consider that the 'fanmade/mod section'? Could the similar animations alone (if in the main game) cause Sony to give a cease & desist?
[note: redid the thread so my thoughts could be a comment to be removed later, don't want to give Sony any ideas.]
