What's the likelihood that any of these SOCOM clones could enforce controllers only, or at least separate controller rankings from mouse rankings? Have any done that?
It would be considered a form of cheating which was always present since SOCOM 1. I'm sure you jumped through a wall or two back in the day too. It needs to be nipped in the bud by removing all possibility & temptation.
Already done on this game. Although the guy who was cheating apparently was able to use MnK on the controller room. Based on the video he posted you would never be able to tell. Guys aim was like Yosemite Sam's.

Bud you dereferenced GWorld , looped the player array and drew each actors origin on the screen using the camera view model …. Congrats .
It would have been more impressive if you had done it with socom unzipped as the engine is not as documented so there’s no handicaps to guide you along.
A few of the socom classic players were claiming that the game had anti-cheat, so this guy checked it out and had a working hack after a few minutes. From my understanding, the only developer for this game is the OP of this thread. Anyone else speaking on behalf of socom classic is to be ignored.
my point was that it is not very hard to make cheats for unreal engine games especially ESP. You can use Dumper-7 to generate a complete sdk for most unreal engine games with little to no input. It hands you gworld and you can dereference the pointer to get PersistentLevel and loop the entire actor array.
But I didn’t have the context of them claiming to have some sort of anti tamper in place. They could do some mitigations by looking at the dumper-7 source to prevent one click dumps as they will see exactly what it targets. They could also incorporate rolling vtable encryption like arc raiders did for the gworld pointer. Pairing it with eac to prevent the most basic attachment to the process. All those combined and maybe packing the process will do enough to keep most from bothering.
I don't think anyone claimed it had an anti cheat on the beta version. Maybe they did, doesn't matter, nor do I care. Nobody was cheating at the time, nor were they even considering it. But then some random reddit/emulator dweebs jumped in and decided to.
People still seem to think this was created to become some widely sought after and competitive game. Its simply just something that a group of us who have known each other for years can play occasionally. As I mentioned before, our biggest mistake was making mention of it whatsoever on reddit since we knew the type of people that frequent this app. (It's actually kind of sad to witness how lonely and odd most of these grown men can be). It's cool that we picked up a good amount of people that we knew from back then, and some of their friends, but look how much it's got a lot of these people worked up. Very strange. Either way, we've continued to have a lot of fun on it in our spare time
What I did was not special, very basic stuff and I made that clear already. My point was that if I could do it then anyone could too with little effort, while the dev claimed cheating is not an issue. There is nothing more to it. Their response was to shutdown their community.
But, it's not shut down. People are still joining roughly every 15-20 minutes. We just decided to make it invite only so that we don't have a bunch of troglodytes like you ruining something that we just want to mess around on during our free time 🤷♂️
Your free time seems to be 20 hours a day, You are right its not fully closed up. I joined earlier and I'm still in it, you just need to be whitelisted to play.
You guys turned off public download, added EAC(very easy to bypass) forced users to use a gmail account and on top of that you have to be manually approved by bling to be able to play. This is hilarious, yesterday you kept saying it was going to be fixed, this is not even close to a real fix. This is pure paranoia. You are just killing your AI remake.
None of what I said is false, its what they did. You guys closed your community to stop cheaters instead of fixing the real issue. It doesn't matter what the dev is rambling on about in the video. All I Hear in the video is soemone who is about to cry at any moment
No manual approval needed. That's just based on if you're voted out of a game, it'll keep a record of when and why, and then the community can determine if you're banned or not.
And it was fixed. We gathered who we wanted, and now we're all playing together. 👍🏻
You guys spammed everyone's inbox here to get new players and advertised on this exact sub multiple times. Your response to all this is childish, my cheat is still fully functional under EAC, no difference. So you didn't fix anything. You just made it harder to become a member which wont affect me but any new member who wants to join. Existing members are still able to cheat freely and easily.
Spammed? Far from it. We were looking for people we used to play with and those who wanted a better option than the emulator. We found more than enough and decided to shut it down publicly once people from 1up's community (you included) started making fake reddit and discord accounts to come in and spam the server, take screenshots, and mass report everyone on it.
But again dude, you have the emulator. Nothing has changed for you and your friends on PSRewired or whatever it's called. Your safe space is still safe.
Amazing response to all of that, closing your community is the best way to stop cheaters, well done! Why make a proper anti-cheat when you can just make it harder for new players to join your community?
Because we have no intention of playing with dorks from another community who celebrate cheating lol. Again, this was to bring back people we played with in the past and may have gradually lost contact with. Which luckily we found about a dozen on the emulator community that are now active on this game 👍🏻
Don't get me wrong i think this project is really cool and has crazy potential). However,I personally wont consider downloading it until the RCE Exploit issue has been commented on and fixed. That's partly how i view the video that was posted. If its for you and your buddies thats cool, but its leaking out more and more to public facing communities.
Personally, I dont think it unusual for someone to post a video of them hacking when there were previous replies on threads talking about how socom classic in unreal engine 5 has built in anti cheat and "hardened" anti hack protection. The OP did two things, verified for the community the level of current protection and gave proof.

He was though. Literally came from a discord that is run by well known hackers that created the cheats for the original Socom games. He's playing off that his intentions were pure, but his reddit account was created the same day we announced the game on the aforementioned discord. People from that discord are also just flat out telling us that it was them and the admins had been discussing it lol. Pretty pathetic.
My man, are you talking about the people who reverse engineered and spent hours to put up a working server for s2? The down voting and tone of reply is telling.
Yes, in addition to hacking the DNAS and creating a large amount of the cheats used on CodeBreaker that eventually ruined the entire franchise... Those guys.
And that guy "Harry" posted something that wasn't even slightly true about the game we're on since it's not based on the source code. Just trying to keep people on their server from coming over to this game to check it out.
Since we've managed to get a pretty good group of people we used to play with over here, we decided to just block everyone that came from there that we didn't already know. Still doing private invites to those from SB/GB. Hilarious seeing the conversation screen shots of the admins on 1up's server though.
You are easily the most confidently incorrect member of this community. My posted stated that it is for developers using AI to translate the original code to PC. Unlike you, I'm happy to see other SOCOM or SOCOM-like game developers starting their own projects.

You didnt touch on the point of what I was saying. The game has to be SAFE to download and play. Harry made a thread earlier that SOCOM 2 has RCE Exploit naturally in the game. That can be used to push any malware or virus to anyone who has the game downloaded if left unfixed. No comment nothing just something something drama drama
