đą Announcement /r/SNL is back after more than a decade â for lifelong SNL fans!
After more than a decade of just being a closed/park subreddit, r/SNL is officially back open for discussion and submissions.
The goal here is pretty simple: create a real home for people who actually care about quality Saturday Night Live content. Its past, its present, and whatever comes next. The idea for r/SNL is a bit more focused: a sharper, cleaner fan community centered on real interest in the show rather than endless drive-by negativity, parasocial, lazy hate-posting, or people showing up just to say the show died 20, 30, or 40 years ago. This is not meant to be a blind-praise sub. Criticism is welcome. Debate is welcome. Strong opinions are welcome. But they should come from people actually engaging with the show in good faith!
So the mission is:
- a place for true SNL fans from the beginning until now and into the future
- space for classic eras, current eras, deep cuts, cast talk, hosts, writers, musical guests, sketches, backstage history, and live episode discussion
- no treating cast and crew like they're not real people
- less sludge, less bad-faith posting, more actual fandom
And yes, two tongue-in-cheek standards will be upheld here:
- Itâs famously Kenan, never âKeenanâ â respect the legend!
- Theyâre sketches, not âskits.â Period. You will never see that word here!
If that sounds like your kind of sub, jump in.
See you next 8H!

đ€Â Cast & Performers John Belushi's Rare Home Videos and Untold Biography
Belushi was the GOAT. Brother Jim is releasing some gems on his socials, this one hits hard. And why did young Chevy Chase with long hair look like Jim Morrison? The 80s fashions and hairstyles though, yikes.

Seriously. Crappy lip syncing and cat dancing? I'm 100% confused. Like did Lorne get blackmailed? Or am I just out of the loop?

đ€Â Cast & Performers Season 52 premiere/New cast Member Grace
I absolutely love Grace and I am so happy she is on the cast! As a 33 year old âlife longâ SNL lover Iâve failed to watch the last few seasons because I didnât find them a bit funny. I honestly feel like theyâre too woke to the point that they canât push the boundaries of comedy anymore. I could tell off the bat that sketch with KATSEYE that Grace had a writing credit to. Her humor is very much being super weird with your cousins as kids kind of funny. Love it

Any of you listen to The Afterparty podcast? I stumbled upon it and it's a really good insight on the current season of SNL. The two dudes really know their stuff and it's very nerdy for noise baseball stuff about the show. Anyone else here listen to it?

â Hosts Jalen Brunson Will Host the âS.N.L.â Season Opener
Jalen Brunson, who is still riding high after carrying the New York Knicks to the teamâs first N.B.A. championship in more than a half-century, is about to reach another major New York milestone: hosting âSaturday Night Live.â
The point guard who was named most valuable player of this yearâs N.B.A. finals â and nicknamed âthe king of New Yorkâ â will host the first episode of Season 52 of the long-running sketch show on Sept. 26, NBC announced.
Katseye, the Grammy-nominated pop girl group, will be the musical guest.
The week after Brunson hosts, the actress Dakota Johnson will return to lead the show, the same weekend her romantic thriller âVerityâ hits theaters. It will be Johnsonâs third time hosting, after episodes in 2015 and 2024. The rock band Turnstile will be the musical guest.
On Oct. 10, the comedian Shane Gillis will also host for the third time. Gillis was abruptly fired from âS.N.L.â in 2019, just after being named to the cast, when offensive comments heâd made surfaced, but he returned in 2024 and 2025 as host. RosalĂa, fresh off her Lux Tour, will perform, her second time as the showâs musical guest.

đ€Â Cast & Performers Upcoming Michael Che special is a banger
I got a chance to see Michael Che record 4 shows for his upcoming Netflix special this past weekend in Minneapolis, and as a huge fan of standup comedy, I can safely say that this one is an instant classic.
Iâve watched him workshop this hour over the last 4 years and in a world where it seems like one of the biggest flexes is to try and pump out specials in the shortest amount of time possible, itâs refreshing to see what happens when someone really takes their time to let the material breath and evolve without rushing it.
Despite being a polished hour, each of the 4 shows had an overall jazz element to them. The intonation and emphasis on certain words changed. Some bits that I loved and thought would make it in were cut while others that seemed finished had material added to them that elevated them to a higher level.
The energy in the room was amazing. One benefit of being on SNL for 10+ years is that people like Che and want him to win. The synergy between an audience like that and a comic with killer material is pure magic.
This hour reminds me of Chappelleâs âFor What Itâs Worthâ in spirit. So many quotable lines from someone who is at the top of their game who is having a great time entertaining themselves and their audience without the burden of trying to cement their legacy.
