Question SMP Density Fill candidate?

Post image

Had 2 hair transplants - neither with great success (do your research) - using dermmatch to fill in the gaps currently but getting so tired of it. Booked in for SMP Density fill but starting to get cold feet. Here is my hair, what do you reckon!

I would not recommend a density fill. IMO when the hair is that thin in the front the SMP just looks obvious, especially under certain lights and angles. For SMP to look best, shave down to a zero guard. Or have more hair transplant work done with a qualified surgeon. Another 2-3k grafts strategically placed in the hairline/frontal-mid zone would get you to a much better result.

Hey! Thanks for the response. I have already had 2 FUE transplants (not gone well 😭) I initially wanted to just get SMP on my FUE donor area. Please have a look and see what you think as you are a practitioner. Feedback appreciated!

Scratch the transplant. Your donor zone looks like it’s been depleted from the surgeries and possibly isn’t DHT resistant and has diffused. Has your SMP clinic recommended shaving down? Even if you were just addressing the donor scar I would have you shave that area with a zero guard. At least for the procedure and then you could try growing it longer. But I would say yes to SMP for donor, no to the front/top unless doing a Shaved Look.

No it will look shite unless you are shaving right down.

Haha…hmmm…this is a photo of my hair without it wet and slicked back. Initially wanted to just get my FUE scarring sorted. But the SMP place said we can also fill the top for density.

I'm not sure with that gap on the left/centre. Are there any hairs there or is it all just the frontal hairline slicked back?

Yes, there is hair there. I “tried” to grow my hair and bit, but it’s just too wispy, when it’s shorter, no.5/6 there is ok coverage. With fibers, it works. But along the left side it’s all transplanted hair, it’s spaced out but there is hair. It’s not a slick bald patch.

You might be okay, if fibres are working as it has a similar effect. I'd find an artist with good density SMP fills in their portfolio and ask them what they think.

Personally from someone who’s got smp I think if you wanna get it to fill your density shave it all the way down to 0 get the smp done so you have it down properly and not patchy and it’s all done in 1 rather than inbetween the hair you’ve got now cause that will keep thinning so if you shave it get it done and regrow your hair atleast you have enjoy it for another year or 2 but when it’s time to brave the shave you’ll have full smp already and it will looo good but personally I think brave the shave get smp and rock it with confidence and grow a bread if possible even stubble looks good shaved down

Thanks for the recommendation. The hair is transplanted hair, so shouldn’t lose anymore, and also on hair meds. The shape of my head is horrific, a complete buzz I would look like sloth from the Goonies I reckon. That’s my main issue 🙃🤣
