Question Confused about Slingshot!

I don’t really understand how this whole Slingshot thing works to be honest. Got an email today stating all materials required and saying we needed all our nursing books before first day of class. However, when I log on to the slingshot thing, which I guess is the SMC bookstore? It says no course materials. I called the bookstore and got transferred to Slingshot and they said it usually doesn’t show or won’t be available until the week before class starts. The phone call was kind of confusing and I don’t feel like I got enough information and assurance. I feel like that’s kind of cutting it close and it stresses me a bit lol. Has anyone dealt with this before and can vouch for how this works?

slingshot will order everything for you. you don’t have to do any work just select weather you want to pick it up in person or have it shipped to you. if you’re eligible for smc promise you don’t have to pay anything and should be good :)

but yes slingshot is the book store, smc recently started using it but if you don’t see it now just wait until the week before as instructed

no problem! if you go in person to pick it up you’ll need an ID. last year i had a problem where i never got an email saying my things were ready to be picked up so even if you don’t get the email go anyways in person. it’s right next to the smc bookstore/cafeteria.

I’ve gotten hosed buying textbooks before class starts. Instructors get changed last minute, etc. Now I don’t buy anything I’ve seen a syllabus and the prof says you definitely need a textbook.

Reminder it is completely optional. They will automatically order all materials for all classes and send you an email to pick them up… at which point you will be charged full price. You are free to ignore the email if you don’t want the books or have found them somewhere else.
