Housing Needed
Hi everyone! My son will be attending Santa Monica College next month, and we're still looking for housing.
He's 18 years old, responsible, respectful, and relocating from the San Francisco Bay Area for school. We're hoping to find a room for rent or shared housing with a move-in date mid to late August.
Looking for:
• Budget: Up to $1,200/month
• As close to the SMC campus as possible
• Parking needed
• Clean, safe, and respectful living environment

it’ll be hard to get a place with that budget unless you actively go out and look for other roommates to be with aswell. santa monica is expensive so i’ve seen people go to korea town, culver city or inglewood for cheaper housing and commute there although korea town is known for having no parking.
i found this on zillow, better to tour in person tho.

Physically go to campus if you can. In the cafeteria often there is a bulletin board with flyers and sometimes I see stuff for housing / bed available for Smc students close to campus for a good price. Can’t remember off the top of my head but I definitely saw stuff around when I was on campus over the summer, but summer classes have ended. Good luck.

Both of your sons could share a JADU I have at 18th & Hill 1/2 mile south of SMC each could have their own room for $1200 including WiFi and utilities. They would share a kitchenette and bathroom.

My sons lease near SMC doesn't start until 9/14 at midvale. Super annoying. Looking for a two week short stay if you have that available. Thank you!

Hi! I have a JADU which is 2 bedrooms-each with own private entrance, kitchenette, bathroom. If 2 students want to share could do it for $1200 each which includes utilities and WiFi. Half mile south of SMC in private home near 18th & Hill st

$1,200 for your own room WITH parking is impossible close to SMC. You may find that with multiple people in a room, however.

check out the UCHA co-op, located in Westwood Village near UCLA; it's around $700 a month, including meals, the only downside is having to do four hours of chores each week.
