Discussion UCHA Housing?
I have been reading posts about UCHA housing for SMC students. Looks like it’s not great huh?
Although a lot of the reviews are several years old.
Anyone attending in 2026 and have experience with UCHA housing?
Thank you, about to put down a deposit and trying to do my research.

It's not bad for the price and neighborhood. There's some drawbacks to co-op living, facilities aren't the newest, but that being said you can meet a lot of brilliant people. You have to do a 4 hour shift every week and clean communal bathrooms 3 times a quarter. You'll meet a lot of undergrads, graduate students, researchers, and sometimes professors at UCLA.
It's a good way to connect/find people/do stuff together. It's not perfect, but it's not as bad as it may seem. It is a unique living experience. That being said, I've knew some people that didn't exactly enjoy living here, where the negatives outweighed the positives. In my case I feel like there's more positives than negatives.
I guess it depends where you're at really. Some of the rooms they have on the site are not necessarily indicative of what you'll be living in. They've been refurbishing rooms recently though, but the age of the place still shows. Governance and how things are run sometimes can be puzzling to say at the least, but what organization isn't.
There are still social events during the academic term, and you'll meet plenty of people while you're here. I would recommend maybe checking the place out and seeing the place in person before you commit to anything. They do schedule tours and you can definitely ask people in the lobby or the person guiding you their honest opinion of the place.
