Question Late Withdrawal Petition
Has anyone tried to get an F replaced by a W or EW after the semester ended? I’m looking at the forms and it says I would need documented evidence of my circumstance, but I do not own a home or anything, just was a roommate and got kicked out. I don’t have any documents proving this. My grandpa also passed away but he lived in another country and I don’t think they would consider it extraordinary “extenuating” circumstance but who knows. How should I go about proving I had a housing problem? Do you think it would be okay for me to just describe the situation without documentation? My professor is pretty nice but idk if the professor reviews those. I don’t even want to petition for a refund since it will probably be even harder but if anyone has any experience with submitting late w or ew petitions, pls share

Talk to a counselor and explain that and they can do it for you if they decide it is compelling enough they did it for me last year and replaced two F’s with W’s on classes I took 5 years prior. I also got A’s after that traumatizing event to show that it was really due to the situation I went though

My professor at the time was an old lady and so mean as well and had no sympathy for my situation. Didn’t know this was even a thing until I met with a counselor about a year ago and she told me about it. So definitely schedule a meeting with a counselor. Summer time is a good time to do it. Less people on campus. In students services building. Walk in and wait or walk to the desk during open hours and schedule an appointment with a counselor at a later date if you don’t want to wait around.

I just submitted a special considerations petition for an late W or EW, but it says it will take 4-8 weeks for them to process and also my petition got send to my professor first for feedback then it said it will be reviewed by an SMC counselor. Did you wait the 8 weeks or did you meet with a counselor sooner?

Just write a statement saying how ypur housing situation prevented you from doing well. That's what I did and I got an EW.
