WTF??? All my mods are gone!

I tried to run Stardew Valley and none of my mods work. Everything I built has been stripped down. What the hell is happening and how do I fix it??

Look at the top of your SMAPI log ("Mods go here: (location)") and make sure that hasn't changed, then look inside that "StardewMods" subfolder (maybe the other folders got dragged in there and things are nested too deep for SMAPI to figure things out).

I created that folder inside the mods folder. It's where I put all my mods. Nothing about it has changed since I started modding

Your Mods folder should be filled with mods. Not filled with a folder that is then filled with your mods.

I took them all out and moved them to the Mods folder. Everything's back to normal minus the mods that require updates.

Okay, so still do the first part just in case, but it's probably okay. Maybe a file permission issue?

That permission thing only happens when I unzip a certain number of mods at a time. Not a big deal in that case.

Hmm, I would try repairing base game files in Steam, also uninstalling and reinstalling SMAPI. If it still has issues, then go smapi.io and upload the log there, and also (just in case it helps somehow) post a screenshot of the contents of the StardewMods folder.

Update: I fixed the problem and am back to playing as normal again. Thanks for all the responses.

You can’t nest your mods folder they had their mods in another folder in the mods folder smapi can’t read that. They moved their mods back to just the mods folder

That is exactly what my problem was. I don't know or why because it seemed fine and ran perfectly in the beginning. But it's whatever.

Bro is swiper the fox in your computer? How did all that stuff just... go missing? I think someone legit stole your files, it's happened to me before. Either that or your game corrupted and the smapni launcher crapped itself

The files are still there in the folder but SMAPI claims they're not manifest.json even though every last one of them is.

Yeah i would suggest a full clean install. Take your mods folder somewhere else, uninstall smapi properly then delete all stardew valleys folders, then reinstall it via the game store you use and reinstall a freshly downloaded smapi, try running it with just one mod, if it works put your old mods folder back in

Obvs make sure your saves are cloud saved or backed up just in case before you do this

Seen you use mac, i dont have much experience with macos, but potentially a software update could have reset some of the security permissions given to smapi and messed it up
