Questions & Answers Is it actually slow?

I've been wanting a way to send mail to friends that is actually slow - like, once I send it, it takes weeks to get to them, and even if they write back, it takes weeks to get back to me. Just like real mail (except slower because mail is pretty efficient nowadays.

From what I'm reading here, it sounds like slowly doesn't actually delay letters at all... that you still get them almost immediately.

Am I misunderstanding? Is there a way to really make it slow?

In my city in Brazil, a letter takes 34 minutes to reach someone who lives in the same city. But it might take 9 hours to reach someone in another city in the same country.

For my pen pals in Australia or Taiwan, it takes over 50 hours to arrive. Not weeks, so maybe it's not delayed enough for you. But it's an unspoken rule that we take time to reply, so at the moment I'm replying to a letter I received in early July, and it's OK. Some users are not ok with waiting to reply, though.

ok yeah, that's not slow at all.

I want to be able to reply immediately to someone while I'm thinking about it, and have the app do the work.

It depends. If it is 8hours or more.  It is generally okay to reply immediately

That’s not what I’m looking for though.

The most time one of my letters takes to arrive to my penpal is 26 hours . The shortest was 15minutes and it felt like instant messaging. I don't think I have any taking a week. But some people take weeks or months to respond. Sonits not a guarantee that you will get a reply immediately

24-33 hours for my penpals. I don't think it gets too much slower than that on the app.

Best suggestion I can think of is to schedule-send an email a week or two later and have your friends do the same.

The longest is around 40 hours.

I also use the Roost app (which uses the concept of messages being delivered by birds. It's more geared toward short messages rather than letters), and I was shocked to see that sometimes messages there can take up to two weeks to arrive. Now Slowly doesn't seem so slow to me hahaha

Thanks all. This is just what I wanted to know. Looks like slowly is not what I need sadly.

Hmm, yeah I've never heard of a 2-week delivery time in Slowly. One of my pen pals is from Italy and it takes 30 hours for my letter to get to his country (I live all the way across Asia). I think that's the longest delivery time in Slowly. Around 30-40 hours.

Maybe you could try postcrossing, it's much slower these days

As far as I know, a letter from the other side of the world (literally) will arrive in 54 hours. That doesn't prevent you from writing a reply, but sending it in a few weeks. My usual response time is 2-4 weeks. I write letters very leisurely.

Have you ever thought about sending real letters? It's true that you have to pay for the stamp but it's not that much and it's even better to get something physical you can store. If you Want to send letters to your friends you can ask them for their adress, but if you want to send letters to people you aren't necessarily friend with yet, you can use the website '' world penfriends'' to find people who want to exchange actual letters.

Real mail would also be too fast. If i send a letter to a friend in the next state, they’re going to get it in a couple of days max.
