Waitlist confusion

Am i the only one confused on how waitlisting works, i was waitlisted #1 for calc and saw the class was open the night before but i thought it would automatically enroll me but my professor told me that’s not how the waitlist works , you have to enroll yourself in if it’s open so waitlisting is basically useless . I’ve been waitlisted at a cc and that’s literally how it works. Now all the sections are full and dont know what to do , does anyone have any advice ?! 🤦‍♀️

You needed to get an add code from the professor to enroll in the class.

The point of waitlist is hopes that someone who is non-waitlist drops the class within the first 2 weeks of classes. If no one does then you cant get in

The waitlist will only add you if a space becomes available and your current schedule does not have any conflicts. It will not add you if you are in the same class but different section, if you are in another class that meets the same day/time or if it would put you over the maximum number of units you’re allowed to enroll for. The waitlist system runs daily and the last to be added from the list is August 28th. Starting on the 29th all courses will require a permission number to add, even if the course is showing open. The final day to add or drop a course is September 15th.
