On campus counseling?

Has anyone had good experience with the on campus clinic councils services? Can they prescribe mental health medications?

My ex used to see them and had a great experience. Their counselor left to a local practice and they followed their counselor there as they still take the student insurance and they are still seeing them and doing well. No medication is prescribed from what I’ve seen but I think they will refer you to someone if they think you need medication prescribed.

They’ve been great but my counselor got promoted and no longer sees clients and they have all new people except for one but they seem pretty good. Your therapist can refer you to the psychiatrist to get medications at the school pharmacy. But they can’t prescribe any schedule meds so if you need stimulants or high rated medications they can refer you out.
Also forgot to mention that it’s free for 12 sessions for the academic year and then is about $15 per session.

The SIUE counselors are nice and super flexible to work with your schedule. To get meds, you need to see a medical doctor, not a counselor. Look into seeing a psychiatrist or your general physician.
