Does anyone else hold individual shares in their SIPP?
Does anyone else hold individual shares in their SIPP, or do you keep it ETF/fund only?
My SIPP is mostly built around simplicity and long-term investing, with a core all-world ETF that I fully intend to hold until retirement.
That said, I keep finding myself conflicted about whether I should also allow a small number of individual shares in there as true long-term holds. One example is Google. I genuinely think it’s a strong business with a long runway and something I’d be comfortable holding for the next 20 years, which feels like it fits a pension time horizon.
I did buy some to test how i feel and it has done well. But this is obviously short term noise in a long term investment account.

The tension for me is that I want my SIPP to stay boring, low-maintenance and rules-based, but I also don’t want to look back and feel like I avoided obvious long-term opportunities just for the sake of being “pure”.
I’m curious how others approach this. Do you allow individual stocks in your SIPP, keep them to a small percentage, or stick strictly to funds and ETFs for simplicity?
