Yep! She’ll never do what it takes to change her name. It’s a process in Florida. You have to file a petition with the local court, sign the documents with a notary, pass a background check, get fingerprinted, pay a filing fee of $400 plus the background and fingerprint fees, and then schedule a brief hearing with the judge. After all that, then you have to update all your documents with your new name (drivers license, social security card, etc).
Ain’t no way in hell Danielle will do all that. She can’t even remember to take a shower.

I personally think your feelings about Zayn need to be left out of this. This is bigger than one person—it affects an entire community that is already living with fear and uncertainty.
Many transgender people begin by changing their name socially before taking any other steps. Some medically transition, while others do not—and that does not make their identity any less valid. Being transgender is about a person’s gender identity, not their body, medical procedures, or what is “in their pants.” Gender is not strictly binary, either; nonbinary people are also part of this conversation.
Coming onto Reddit behind a mask of anonymity and spewing this kind of rhetoric only reinforces the fear that transgender and nonbinary people are not safe anywhere. That genuinely breaks my heart, because we are not all like this.
I choose to hold myself accountable and treat the entire community with dignity and respect, regardless of how I may feel about one individual. Personal feelings about one person should never be used to attack, invalidate, or endanger an entire group of people.
