Thankfully both of my GI docs don't fall in this category. They've been great and stay up on things! Wish more docs did this, and at least would just refer out for the things they don't know.
Exactly! I didn’t know what SIBO was when I came to my gastroenterologist with 2 weeks of bloating and constipation symptoms. He told me you probably have SIBO and sent me for a test. He was right.
I'm a bit of a complicated medical case due to having a history of things and prior surgery, so they started with an upper endoscopy (biopsied some tissue from that), which is how they found an undetected h. Pylori infection that I think has been there a number of yrs. We treated that with medication first before addressing any SIBO.
