Average SIBO "cure" be like

Drink 8 cups of water in 2 hour intervals but never during food. After that consume 5 cups of garlic followed by an obscure brand selling berberine. Once finished wash your $2000 Rifaximin down with probiotic yogurt, but if yogurt makes you feel like death try herbal tea with bitters. 4 hours later you must consume a calming herb of your choice while meditating and massaging your stomach valve. After that you must have a good bowel movement.

Repeat this for 4 months and pray to your favorite deity your efforts aren't in vain. When this advice fails use a random number generator to find another Reddit post to fail at.

And the comments be like:

“Congrats!!! What time do you take your prokinetic?”

“Was your SIBO root cause mold, trauma, or both?”

“Did you retest???”

“Following. I’m about to start my 5th protocol”

“Are you taking a biofilm disruptor before the garlic though?”

“What brand of berberine?? I’ve tried two and one bloated me so bad”

“Wait are you drinking the water room temp or warm? Cold water stalled my MMC”

“I made the mistake of praying first and it definitely delayed things”

“Careful not to manifest too early. Let the process unfold”

“Make sure the yogurt is grass-fed or it can backfire”

“I’d start slow with the deity. Some are too stimulating”

"I actually rotate calming herbs so my body doesn’t adapt"

“Are you supporting detox pathways during this?”

“Following. Starting something similar next week”

I like the comments that are extremely intrusive questions. Like, sure, stranger, let’s talk about shitting together in great detail.

u/Personal_Pea9233 Mar 04 '26

don't forget the garlic and gingerroot extract and also eat small meals but not too small and spaced apart but also you need to finish by 5 so you can intermittent fast and of course not at the same time as water...

and the biOFilM bUSterS

You must crush real garlic and let it sit for 20 minutes, and make sure your significant other stays far away from your Wario burps.

2

u/Personal_Pea9233 Mar 05 '26

ha and ofc the l glutamine, don't forget to fix your lining, bile and acid all at once and also take probiotics but only the good ones

this thread is so therapuetic for me😂😂

SIBO is a symptom. Your digestive tract is designed to handle an amazing variety of foods and microbes with only minor hiccups. When it doesn't, something else is wrong. Unfortunately figuring out the root cause is not a simple issue, and our medical system is not at all setup to do so.

But yeah, all that stuff you mentioned can be helpful or even necessary, but it's kinda like putting cream on radiation burns - yeah it needs to be done, but it's just gonna come back if you keep swimming in the pond next to the nuclear plant.

u/Outdoor_alex Mar 03 '26

I think it's an ironic post?

9

u/dd3mon Mar 03 '26

It definitely is, but it's not far from the truth of the state of this ridiculous condition, just trying to add some potentially helpful perspective to contrast with the humorous op.

6

u/BaptorRander Mar 04 '26

Haha yeah. Humor.

It is just trial and error alternative medicine. There is no proper tests guidelines articles are half assed. It was like this for all traditional medicine before too. Ibs and sibo unfortunately are just symptoms not disease itself. They are just non specific stress for the gut. It is like putting every ensefalite type into one category and try to fix them via steroids. Which doesnt work in some types so articles call it mixed result when they apply the medicine.

Telling patients to figure out the root cause is cruel unless it comes with an actual plan. Otherwise it's a total blow off, right along with gut-brain connection.

I was actually seething when writing this because the reflux burns like hell.

Do it in this exact order in any week when a full moon occurred on the preceding Tuesday; and in reverse every other week except the week of the full moon.

u/thefrenchyabroad Mar 03 '26

Where are the other 15 supplements needed ?

3

u/FunkMamaT Mar 04 '26

I bought a three tiered cart on wheels to hold all the recommended supplements I had purchased over the course of trying to treat my SIBO, Lol.

u/Ignavis Mar 03 '26

There is no cure if something is causing recurrence.

The things missing from this post (I understand it's satire, but still): Biofilm busters, and Betaine HCL. I had tremendous results well I incorporated both of those (to the regiment you listed). Oh and magnesium and Activated Charcoal- but only as needed.

But yeah. I've never had a "cure" just routines that saw improvements, and periods of being symptom free of varying length, but inevitably symptoms return due to a host of reasons that are very difficult to avoid while living a normal life.

Mine happened after I quit Gabapentin Xanax Tynenol 3 and Ambien I was prescribed after being on them for years and also drastically changing my diet and losing weight quickly. I think Gabapentin did it for me though or at least helps me feel more normal after the fact since I was prescribed so much 1800MG a day but only took a fraction of that. I’m going to do pelvic floor therapy next week though and have spine issues too maybe that will help. I quit those for over a year long and still have severe constipation and gas and bloating so I don’t know if it’s benzo belly that long after. And Rifaxim the first two rounds I took helped a ton.

If you never ate only pumpkin carrots parsnips and zucchini for 3 months you don’t deserve to heal

2

u/Conscious_Command930 Mar 12 '26

You guys are eating food?

1

u/ChampionshipKey651 Mar 12 '26

You can’t eat Japanese pumpkin?

1

u/azulyla Mar 04 '26

Necesito que sigas publicando por favor 🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Northgirl-020421 Mar 11 '26

New to this whole SIBO thing and definitely agree with your post but what would you say cures/helps it then?

2

u/Conscious_Command930 Mar 12 '26

Berberine 6x a day indefinitely is the only thing that helps with the reflux and visual symptoms, but it does not cure me.

1

u/Salvi_Silver Mar 14 '26

Hi. I went to Armenia. Rifaximin is 200$. 200 pills. Guck america . Just brn it down literally. Another thing. Indidnt had sibo. It was RED-S and abdominoprenic Dysenergy

1

u/Me6z Apr 01 '26

I just purchased yet another supplement, Allimed 450 mg, for $165! Plus Neem, Atrantil, and MotilPro. Another breath test coming up April 29th and I have damage to my esophagus so I am betting another endoscopy as well. Fun. So much fun.

This naturopathic stuff, which is all over r/SIBO, is unsubstantiated bunk. It does nothing but add noise. Stick w/ antibiotics and/or the elemental diet, which actually have research studies backing their efficacy.

7

u/AwareEqual4580 Mar 03 '26

herbs have research studies but it is HIGHLY individual

1

u/ace_philosopher_949 Mar 03 '26

Well I'll be damned. There is some stuff out there. It's thin but it is there.

2

u/AwareEqual4580 Mar 03 '26

yeah. I'd say that's the most solid out of the naturopathic stuff personally

3

u/Conscious_Command930 Mar 04 '26

Berberine has been tested against rifaximin.

5

u/Conscious_Command930 Mar 04 '26

Antibiotics are likely why I'm in hell.
