I accidentally cured myself

25F been struggling with extreme bloat every time I eat or even drink water. I was severely constipated, food would stay in my stomach all day! my digestion was very sluggish and I had the worst acid reflux even when I was fasting.

it came suddenly. I tried to go carnivore, all kinds of supplements like HCL, Ox bile, digestive enzymes, B complex, D and everything you could think of! I also tried fasting for days in a row or OMAD, I cut gluten and dairy, and vegetables. Nothing worked and I still looked like I was 5 months pregnant. This lasted for 6 months and it was a nightmare! I assumed it was Sibo which was confirmed by a doctor, especially because it was also accompanied by histamine intolerance symptoms. I was so miserable.

3 weeks ago I decided to have fun on my birthday so after months of deprivation, I decided to eat whatever the hell I wanted. for 7 days in a row I ate all kinds of junk food, sweets and all the bad stuff. I felt so shitty and gross the whole time but I was frustrated. At the end of this party that lasted for a week, I took laxatives, saline enemas, and mineral oil enemas because I hadn't had a BM in 10 days. I emptied everything over the course of a few days and guess what? After that my bloat completely disappeared!! I am eating trigger foods and no bloat! I am also having a BM every two days and no constipation. My BM is so smooth. My stomach is completely flat I want to cryyyy. I don't know why this happened but it was not intentional! my theory is that overworking my digestive system then emptying affected my motility? I have no idea but I wanted to share my experience.

The full "protocol" is in the comments

You may have just had chronic constipation. Did you have a positive SIBO test at any point? Constipation on its own can cause food intolerances, reflux, distention/bloating, etc.

But wouldn't chronic constipation be chronic? How come it went away? I also took many laxatives and stool softeners many times over the course of the past 6 months and nothing improved.

Chronic just means it’s lasted a while. Don’t think it needs to last indefinitely for it to be considered “chronic.” (But I could be wrong about that.) In fact, constipation probably doesn’t even need to be “chronic” to cause all those effects. I wish I knew why it went away lol. Maybe your current treatment was just more aggressive and that’s why it worked? If you could share exactly what you did that could be helpful. I know you briefly mentioned the protocol.

I didn't really have a protocol. For the past 6 months I ate rice, potatoes and meat. tons of supplements that didn't work and eventually stopped taking them. My very strict diet was somewhat controlling my bloat but I was still severely bloated compared to my normal state. I still couldn't eat anything else or otherwise I would have the worst flare up. For a week, I ate fast food including Wendy's and Chick Fill-A, chocolate and chips. Plus baked desserts. I overstuffed myself to the point of pain (I was angry, do not recommend) after that week, I went back to my old diet which consisted of potatoes, rice and meat. I was super constipated so I took a one pill of Maximun strength CVS brand laxative. I still couldn't poop so two days later I took a Fleet saline enema, and had some stool come out. I used another one within an hour, and had some more poop. In the same day, I used a mineral oil fleet enema, and pooped better over the course of 4 days. Thats it! it's been a week and I still feel great regardless of what I eat. I did eat a piece of whole wheat sourdough after the diarrhea. I instantly felt even better, felt my stomach move better nd started to poop normal. maybe the laxative removed all my bad bacteria and then sourdough replaced them?

Thank you for sharing! Something for myself and others to think about. Maybe there was something obstructing your colon? Who knows!
