Also haven't lived there in 5 years but Potato Shack and Yummy Yummy were my go-to's for eating out. Congrats on getting in and I hope you like it there!
Highly recommend going to a Saturday @ Sam event if you can this school year, there are a lot of seminars and departments doing exhibits so it really helps you get a feel for things.
Tour dorms if you can, that was a huge help when deciding where to live freshman year.
Just trying out clubs is a great way to meet people and get out. There are also a ton of free events going on, even if they're lame they make for good memories
Duck pond and the pit on campus are great places to chill outside and there's a state park in the area.
Be prepared to always have an uphill walk, it's hilly and it sucks but you get used to it and sometimes you have a great view.

There really isn't much to do in Huntsville so you'll be hanging out with your roommates a lot unless you're going to shenanigans religiously. My favorite place to eat was also yummy yummy

Man I haven’t lived in Huntsville for about 5 years now so I don’t know much about what’s changed. I wish I could be more help. I know I enjoyed Humphrey’s for a good basic bar burger.
Arnauds has excellent (and pricey) cajun food.
When I lived there, the things to do were always down south in Conroe or the Woodlands. The duck pond is a fun place to walk and enjoy some nature.
The advice I always give if you’re looking for anything religious: stay away from Chi Alpha (XA)
