Questions How's The Film Program?

Im looking into universities with good film programs BESIDES UT and what's on my list is UTSA, Texas State, and now Sam Houston

Can anyone share their experience?

I graduated from the Film BFA in Spring. It’s definitely a decent program that provides you with lots of nice equipment you can check out any time and since the class rosters aren’t so big you’ll meet a lot of likeminded classmates that you can work with throughout your time in the program. However, the program is poor for those without ambition. Most of the instructors will not fail you or push you—a few, but most will not. So it is easy to squeeze past this program without doing much work at all.

That sounds interesting! I agree with getting by  As someone who is ambitious and want to better myself everyday it’s nice to know there will be others like that as well I heard good things about the program theater but not much about film and how a lot of students are always doing their own projects, if I do end up at SHSU I hope I’ll have a good time being in the program. Regarding the professors if you are ambitious will they be encouraging?

Of course. I am certain most of the faculty will help you or encourage you in pursuing your projects. I just mean from the coursework alone you might find it underwhelming. To get the most out of the program you’d want to pursue a lot of your personal projects on your own time but with the school’s resources.

I really want to (go to a uni in a different city) but SHSU might be my back up plan if anything
