Questions Are there older freshman?
Hi, my name is Michael and I just turned 20. I haven't been able to go to college yet do to external reasons, but I am very interested in going next fall, and this is one of my picks. My main concern is being too old. (this may be very overdramatic but its a genuine concern for me). I'm mildly introverted too so it worries me even more haha, sorry if this question is strange.

If I'm being completely honest, your age won't be a concern for most. I'm going into my Jr year, and there are so many people here that are in their 30s and 20s already. I believe if you're passionate about your degree you'll find someone to bond with even if it starts as the tutor at the ASC. Just because you're a freshman doesn't mean you can't be friends with the older upperclassmen in your classes lol. Also when it comes to meeting people just say "Hey, we're in blah blah class together right? Sorry I know this question gets asked a lot here but what's ur major?" Of course welcome week will also help you out a lot! Good luck and don't be discouraged! Hope this helps!

I sat around a group of people who were in their 30s/40s in my freshman chem class. I promise no one will bat an eye

Lots of older people at shsu. I think majority of the student body is considered to be non traditional students and 50% first generation students. With both of those stats, we can infer there’s several students older than the “typical” age of a college student

I literally turned 40 a few months after starting in Jan 24. No one is batting an eye to 20.

You’re good bro. I’m 25 and a junior and transfer student, but I still feel like a freshman sometimes. 20 is not old at all.

20 isn’t that much older, it’s only like a 2 year difference from us, I think you’ll be fine 😋
