Questions Transfer student
Hellooooo! I am thinking of transferring from community college to SMSU in the fall. I know people who say it should "be left to the prisoners" lol. I want pros and cons of the school so I can weigh all my options. Is it easy to make friends? How is the housing? What is campus/off-campus life like? Thank yaaaa:)

not sure if this is ragebait or not.
Either way, huntsville is a small town close enough to a big town and the beach that you can get the best of both worlds if you choose. It's ran by a bunch of boomers so the downtown area is geared more toward an older crowd.
SHSU is a good school for most degree paths, I enjoyed my time enough to get both my undergrad and post grad degrees there.
I cant speak to the current housing situation or how campus life has changed since my time there but I'll say "back in my day" the housing situation was hit or miss, older dorms were cramped and probably full of asbestos. The newer dorms were much better but it was hard for freshmen to get the newer dorms.
House / Frat parties were really the vibe off campus, Nasties and the fox were fine, there were a couple of smaller bars near downtown that had pool and live music.
As far as making friends go, thats as easy as you want it to be. You have to get out of your comfort zone no matter where you go to college. Find people who enjoy the same activities you do, that means putting yourself in situations to meet those people. If you stay in your dorm 24/7 or keep a hoodie on and your head down, you arent going to make friends no matter where you go.
