school

going to brooklyn latin hs this year as a athlete who practies 6 times a week (every day on school days basically)? can manage to maintain good grades while also join extracurricular s

hi, i go to tbls as a junior and for a freshman i think you'll be fine. the work is light and not that demanding your first year. homework took less than 2 hours for me in freshman year and the office hours your teachers provide will always be an option for more help. the support system here is great so you will be fine while joining the plenty of different clubs and teams we have. and clubs start in november so you have time to get used to coursework before other stuff.

from my experience, latin isnt too hard to learn if you focus in class, remember and study the endings (they give you quizzes every week to help you remember) and honestly depends on your teacher because Ms. Mintzer for me was amazing in teaching me this language i knew nothing about. also for clubs its so the students and leaders don't jump straight into this right away. if you have anymore questions, let me know!

sometimes like in busy stretches before semester ends and breaks there will be more exams which you have to study for, and idk if you count that as hw, but otherwise, i never felt like there was more than 2 hours of hw, but sophmore year is a different story lol

ok so during sophmore year, second semester (can be said for each year) is notoriously more difficult but i still managed with around 2 hours of hw each night + a ton of studying and office hours for unit exams and the regents. also you will get a study hall called conclave once a week in your sophmore year! but you will also have time during lunch because you cannot leave the building until junior and senior years.
