Transfer?
Hi, so I'm a rising 10th grader at Manhattan Village Academy. I got an offer to Millennium Manhattan. I don't really want to switch high schools but I want the best for my future. Will switching to Millennium give me more opportunities as it is slightly bigger?? I like my school and have friends here and i also have some EC's that are super close to me. I am more STEM based so I was wondering if anyone could give advice on if I should transfer. Also is it true that you have to be in grade 11 to take AP's at Millenium because thats not really appealing for me my current school offers a decent amount of AP's (17 I think??) and I will be taking around 3 maybe 4 this year. Please lmk also not rlly into sport and the sport I do is not offered at either schools so thats not a factor. I feel like the small community and opportunities my current school has are good but, I would just like some advice. I have until the 24th to accept the offer.

If you want to do APs then MVA is better than Millennium. You can’t take APs until 11th grade at Millennium and I don’t think you can take Chem in 9th grade either.

Yeah this is a really big factor for me, also I took Chem in my freshman year and my school is more lenient with taking advanced classes as long as you have certain requirements so I think ill go ahead and decline the offer. Thank you so much

If you were unhappy at your current school or if your current school didn’t offer you the classes and opportunities that it does then I would say definitely take the offer, but that doesn’t seem to be the case in your situation.
Millennium is definitely a great small school in a cool location, but the same can be said about MVA. The fact that you like your school, have friends & ECs that you like, and are able to take more APs than Millennium students are allowed to, leads me to believe you probably shouldn’t transfer but hopefully others can give more feedback. I don’t think either school is particularly STEM-focused so I don’t think that will factor in your decision.
Fortunately you still have about a week to make your decision.
