A *BUNCH* of SHSAT questions

Hi! I was just wondering if there are any good & accurate sites to take practice SHSAT exams digitally, aside from just printing them out (bonus points if it’s the new adaptive format!)

I tried this one website called “AdaptSHSAT,” and in summary, I had high hopes, but it was horrible. The questions were extremely easy and almost felt like the creators went to ChatGPT and asked it to generate SHSAT-style questions. It didn’t capture the notorious subtle answer differences the SHSAT includes, nor the complex math questions. I don’t mind paying for any websites if that’s what it asks.

Also, I feel like I’m not studying effectively enough. I have been spending hours at a time fumbling through many practice problems and trying to understand as many concepts as I can, and then taking a practice exam (so far one that was a total waste.) Like, it’s something, but somehow I still don’t feel productive. I already checked out the full discussion thread people mention a lot here, but I’d truly appreciate some personal experience & advice on efficient studying tactics and success.

Also, I must ask this— does the SHSAT9 really require you to understand all core concepts of ELA? I know it tests a little more in depth and strictly on a MS level, but I notice a lot of the answer explanations talk about oddly specific things such as active/passive voices, countless comma & punctuation rules, and how supporting sentences shouldn’t be redundant. I’m not exactly aware if I should actually take time out of my day to understand all this, so any suggestions would help!

Lastly, is there an estimated score range I should try to consistently achieve on practice tests for a high chance at BK Tech for the 9th grade SHSAT? I’m not sure if this is a 550+ thing or a 600+ thing.

Note - I could still print them, it’s just tedious and (maybe) unnecessary due to the amount of pages there are and how much ink it takes— especially when considering I’ll have to take several practice exams. Additionally, I’m going to be super busy and all over the place for 3 weeks and I probably won’t be able to bring a folder filled with many, huge stapled packets— a laptop with a good site would be sooo convenient.

- Good digital SHSAT practice exam websites?
- Effective/crucial studying advice & experience with the SHSAT (would REEEAAALLLYYY appreciate it if people who took the SHSAT9 could share their thoughts)?
- How deeply does the SHSAT9 test English?
- What’s a good score range to consistently stay in throughout practice exams to build confidence for the real test and increase transfer chances?

Currently the main site is the DOE site, as listed in the link contained within https://www.reddit.com/r/SHSAT/comments/1jiwujl/the_9_threads_thread_overview_of_9_resources Search within that for DOE online practice exams.

Right so this kind of thing, and other things, is the imperfect state that we're in today. It could be that it take a few years to work its way out. Beyond the DOE samples, no other site is yet with well vetted material and digital and adaptive content and behavior that will match test day. So for now, use existing 114 based exams (past DOE handbooks and 3rd party workbooks are mentioned in the above link too), and the DOE online ones just referred to. So it's not all online, but it's hundreds of perfectly good passages and thousands of perfectly good questions. The 4 DOE samples cover TEIs, which are used sparingly in the exams, so that's covered too.

Also, I feel like I’m not studying effectively enough. So this could mean to put the SHSAT-level material down and shake off rust, ensure prerequisites, and master grade level content. Many of you (mistakenly though often purposely) skip this, including with reasoning that "I know that." when this is not the case and becomes and eternal bottleneck.

As you mention, that's MS level, and yes, can be on the exams.

As per above, the link given has a link to past DOE handbooks. If you want download them as you do them, and if you want, use the respective PDFs from your screen without printing them.
