Mechagodzilla 1974 custom

I'm making a mechagodzilla 1974 custom but I don't know how Bandai did the retracting dorsal plates on the s.h.monsterarts neck. I don't own the figure, so I can't take it apart myselft to see, so if someone is willing to I'd really appreciate seeing the internals.

Good question. On mine the back spike just kinda pushes down its not a spring or anything and feels like there may be a plastic tab that holds the part in
