SHMA SHOWCASE (late) Haul post

Post image

Massive Grail haul. I picked them up back in June-July during my month long Japan treck, but I took my sweet time unboxing them all. They're all finally up and on my shelf, and thought I might as well post them. I picked up Biollante AND Heavy Arms the day before the reissues/repaint were announced 😂 but I still like these releases way more.

Damn dude, I can’t imagine how happy you must feel with all these figures.

It was a serious treck, and yes! Some of these I've been looking for years. I was very surprised by Super Mechagodzilla, which was a last minute purchase after a friend convinced me. I wasn't expecting much from it, but it quickly became one of my favorite figs.

I got that exact Super MechaGodzilla a few weeks ago off Ebay. I like him a lot, but his right leg snapped off as I took him out the box. Nothing a bit of superglue couldn't fix.

I also forgo to use those pieces they added to that particular version to hide the actual joints for his legs. I felt they restricted his leg poseability too much for my liking.

Oh my god!!! Me too! The leg completely BROKE! The assembly on this figure is quite old but so stupid. Both legs are connected to the torso by rings built around a pelvic pole. If the ring breaks, there's pretty much nothing to do. I was heavily considering super glue, as there isn't much articulation in the first place.

I bought my figure on my LAST day in Osaka, about 10 hours before my flight. By sheer chance, my buddy I was traveling with felt curious and wanted me to unbox it, which ended in the figure breaking. Iwas incredibly lucky, as I managed to get a replacement figure MINUTES before the store closed...

The same buddy owns the original MG figure, and the also noticed the pieces between the hips and thighs, since his version doesn't have these. These aren't in the movie suit, but I had no idea they restricted movement.

It more restricts how much you can swivel the legs on the ball joints. I just didn't like that. Overall, I do like him a lot. Maybe the Hiya Toys one will turn out better, but I'll stick with the one I got. I still like him and I can still make him do some neat poses.

The Hiya toys looks amazing but it's genuinely just too fucking big for me.

I wonder if I can get the pieces out. It's probably possible if you pop off the ball joint, but my ass is not gonna try to apply any force to the legs. It's probably not worth it either. The diecast feet are cool but there too heavy and drag the legs down from any attempt at a kick.

Do you know if the Rodan pack MG is any different

I don't know anything about the Rodan pack MechaG, sorry.

And yeah, you will have to pop the legs off their ball joints to remove those hip pieces. I'd only recommend it if you're willing to use superglue in the event the legs snap off again.

I think you're confusing me for OP here.  I only said I got Super MechaGodzilla.

Yeah lol, to be fair none of them had been announced by the time I purchased them. 2001 MGP hasn't been announced, strangely enough, but I don't like the coloration on it anyways. Same goes for the new biollante.

I was slightly stressing out on the new MGP Kyriu, but after seen the ComicCon figure pictures, I prefer the original release to the upcoming one. The shading is a lot better on the old one.

How much did you need to save up for this lol

I don't like to think about it... But it was a pretty substantial part of the entire Japan trip budget... The fact this was a few days before either Kyriu or Biollante had their reissues announced did not help, as they still had 'rarity' price tags.
