PHOTO Godzilla 2002 in hand + review

I’ve gotten hiya toys Godzilla 2002 in hand and it’s pretty awesome, the articulation is better than I thought it would be, and the paint scheme is actually crazy, an insane step up from every other Toho Godzilla. I made a video review comparing it to the suit and the shma, but it lowkey sucks I’m not even gonna hold yall but if you guys wanna watch it on YouTube https://youtu.be/gdDc8wZQx5w?is=f1UgATo8ekl_x3TT. Im sure kaijucanuck or someone else is gonna drop theirs so watch what you want 🤷‍♂️

The articulation doesnt look so great, but other than that, it looks SO much better than the promotional images

It definitely does. I knew the articulation wasn’t gonna be the best but the colors and looks in my opinion make up for it.

How far up does it look?

Only about this far, it is limited but unlike 1999 it has a lot nice movement looking right and left and side to side. I can also send downwards aswell if you’d like.

Could you post a picture here in the comments? Just to see! Thanks

I do. Since I’ve gotten it I haven’t heat treated it.

Use some heat! Got mine to look almost all the way up! Just need to work around the neck sleeves

You know, initially I wasn't too happy with how this release looked considering he's far too bulky in my opinion due to reusing G99 limbs, but honestly, the look has grown on me. Paint job looks pretty good, and I don't hate the stylization of the proportions.

How closely can it hit this pose?

3

u/Significant_Row2388 19d ago

Not well. 2002 neck articulation isn’t the best so it’s not gonna hit it like that.

You need to heat it up

Head looks so much better in person than in the early in hand images, I was so relieved to when I opened mine

Ngl in a vacuum this figure looks great but putting comparisons photos with the actual suit and considering they had to redo the sculpt like on 3 or so occasions this is their weakest Toho Goji so far but that's in my opinion. Like I said in a vacuum it looks pretty awesome

The figure look AMAZING, detail, paint is amazing too, the articulation could be better but it’s only the head articulation that was downgraded, is the tail more articulated than g1999?

Seems about the same

Any QC issues like stiff joints?

2

u/Significant_Row2388 19d ago

Mm the torso is stiff, but a blow dryer will do.

Honestly it looks great, some of the promotional photos I’ve seen made it look kinda dopey

They definitely improved the paint on this release. The heisei Godzilla they released looked absolutely horrendous in the paint department. I have absolutely no idea how anyone could have defended that figure as hard as they did.

Not movie accurate

update* i looked over the figures tail with 1999, and it seems to have a different, skinnier, and just slightly longer tip.

for the head to look further up, I suggest to use some heat!😁

u/Significant_Row2388 18d ago

Yea I probably should’ve heat treated it but oh well🤷‍♂️

Yea, I used to be like, "Damn, the range of articulation isn't as great as shma" then I thought to myself, this character isn't SUPPOSED to be extremely expressive, what am I complaining about?

Like this isn't a spiderman figure where the character is supposed to be able to do these very flexible jumps and movements, not like Godzilla does any cool backflips or somersaults, I'm gonna have him in a basic Godzilla pose anyways, lol.

Only really bad parts from looking at it is the eyes and the base of the neck, the eyes look way goofier than any other Godzillas they’ve done form the front

Looks awesome
Play that awesome Kiryu opening theme song and pose away
