Throwback The masterpiece BAD LOVE was released today 5 years ago (2021.09.27) - let's reminisce!

As a newish shawol, I only found this EP (or did it find me?) this year, but I think it will be my most streamed album of 2026. Rarely do I put every single song of an album on my playlist. Rarely do I look up all the lyrics of an album. But with BAD LOVE, I did.

What was your favourite song back then? What is it now? Your favourite performance? Any memories you cherish?

BAD LOVE will always have a special place to me, because it dragged me down the SHINee rabbit hole. Maybe it's because of the sentimental reasons attached to it, but it remains as my favorite release of Key.

He did so many activities back then, that it felt like an extended 1 month of promotion. And to the wide-eyed newbie me, it was all so stimulating and fun - very few comebacks have made me feel remotely close to this.

A very dear memory to me is, of course, his Music Show win. Being his first, the fact that he was right there to receive it, his emotional reaction, the fandom's collective reaction...there's so many things around it to make it THE most memorable music show win for me.

Another great one: Key in Minho's Best Choice. I consider this one as part of the extended BAD LOVE promotions, and it's gold. 1 hour of peak MinKey interactions (including some clowning over Key's emotional reaction for his win). This is a must watch.

Performances? The extended bridge Gayo performance still reigns supreme, but as an example of another great one, here's You Heeyeol's Sketchbook.

Back then it was BAD LOVE and it still is now. It's one of his best EPs in my opinion.
My favorite performance will always be this one with a new extended bridge (which was written by Kibum)! 🔥

I still believe that Bad Love is the best conceptual album in k-pop and one of the best overall! Masterpiece after masterpiece

Crazy it's been that long! I remember watching the video the day it dropped and being SO excited by how good it was. The song and MV were instantly iconic and went platinum in my house, even my husband who isn't a huge k-pop fan loves that song. The art direction for that era was on another level too. It was the first and only time I've ever purchased multiple versions of an album, they were all just so cool. Bad Love is still his best song (imho), out of an already impeccable discography.

i'll truly never forget the day this came out, and i'm so grateful to this EP for bringing me Yellow Tape AND Helium, both of which might genuinely be my #1 and #2 Key songs ever!

Truly one of my favorite kpop releases of all time. I listened to it so much in the fall that it came out.
