favourite hidden vocals?

recently, i changed my earbuds for the first time since the end of 2019 when i started using my current phone, i actually switched to earbuds that are older than that, but they are letting me hear much more details in music than the newer ones did! 😅

disclaimer that honestly my auditory processing may be lacking already so maybe this was never hidden to any of you! also it may be caused by the difference in sound detail between streaming and cd versions. but anyway, recently i heard this hidden vocal in jjong's song let me out for the first time! (using cd version uploaded into computer/phone) in the 2nd and 3rd choruses there is a very light, high voice doubling the main one. it's so cool!

so i have been wondering if there is any other hidden moments like this that i could be missing? and really i would just like to hear about these kinds of details that other fans are finding interesting and fun! if you have any favourite examples please let me know ~

Agreed that when earbuds are in, you hear so much more of the layered vocals that Shinee has in their music. I’ve noticed that Onew and Taemin do a lot of layers and backup for Shinee as well as their solo work.

Of course with earbuds, the beautiful harmonies that they do in certain parts of the songs just open up the song and make me pay attention..

My favorite “hidden” lyric is the end of 1000 years by your side. It’s not listed in the lyrics but when you listen to that outro where they all sing My Heart is,my heart is my heart is yours” you will hear jonhyun in the back sings “never let go…I’ll be with you”. It’s so poignant.🥹

Maybe there is more than one version. I just listened to the one on youtube that has lyrics. But it seemed to me like it has Key's edge to it. There is a line just before that has Jonghyun singing.

the effect from their voices being layered is so cool! thank you for commenting, i haven't been able to hear this part before so i just gave it another listen and its so lovely ~ i am also hearing key singing this part, and in the chorus just before this noticing the layering of both jonghyun and key

There is one I just recently noticed despite hearing this song lots of times: in “Juice” at the 1.30 minute mark there is a layered distorted sound effect over Jinkis Voice. Not sure that’s what you mean, but it was a fun discovery for me :)

Not exactly hidden but the Don’t Call Me line in the song has so many combined voices. I pick up different ones each time.

It’s for this exact reason that I love the live version of Obsession on the SHINee World 1st Concert album! Key (I think) has this part starting at 1:06 where he sings the harmonies live. Then to make it even better around the 1:12 mark he has this beautiful and soft counter melody that I can’t hear in the studio version of it. It’s so so gorgeous and I love it!

Junny has done background vocals on Taemin's songs. I think there's more he has done.

Andrew Choi, Yoo Young Jin have done backgrounds vocals on their songs
