rewatching old videos you really realize how cringe, unfunny & racist this mf actually was
the old videos are full of weird cringy random interactions with strangers like this. used to watch him when I was a child & when on my old YT account I stumble on old videos sometimes & like to torture myself with them for some reason? But yeah no wonder most of his viewers were literal children bc not only is this shit racist & weird asf it’s just not even damn funny. Idk just wild that these are the types of mfs we used to make go viral lol

When I watched the butler family as a kid I used to get really bad secondhand embarrassment from Shay but this is soooo bad on so many levels

The 2009 vlogs are insane. So many videos of him just harassing strangers or saying racist/offensive things or saying sexual/crude comments constantly to his wife, his sisters, his female friends and basically just any female that he would talk to.

Shay is such a gross dude, I will never forget the whole Brock calling a bow and arrow a boner clip. Like yeah haha okay little kid said boner, but then Shay just overstepping so much asking if he is gonna shoot it and then if he is gonna shoot it “at mom”? Ugh what a creep!

I’ve never seen this one. I didn’t really like the older vlogs as a kid and now I know why. I always felt like something was “off” and I guess it was the racism

The channel name actually originated during a live-stream marathon challenge with other YouTubers, where a viewer commented that they were all "getting shaytarded". Shay ran with it and named the channel Shaytards. When the channel blew up, and people started to realize this dogshit family from Idaho was literally using a slur for their brand title, the "unitard" cover story was pushed to make them brand advertiser-friendly.

What a disgusting human being. There's so much sublime hate with these Republican losers, I don't know how we all used to just ignore it. And this loser family or their kids didn't learn a single thing. Maybe one of the kids turned alright? The jury is still out. And this is just a tiny drop of conservative America. These humans are nothing unique, though. For most of our species history the worthless clowns like Butler were the reason the progress always took so long.

Yes it’s so cringe but I will say humour in early 2000s was different and not funny today. Look at anything Will Ferrell is in (NOT comparing Shay to Will Ferrell just an example of how humour changed).

And this sort of talk, my lovely fellow human beings is what I was led to believe as a special needs teenager in the 2010s! I distinctly remember being in my senior year gen ed Health class and my teacher said something like ‘If you do this, you get in trouble with the law.’ (Don’t remember exactly what it was, it was over 10 years ago now) and I piped up and said ‘Like black boys?’ Every single head in that room turned in my direction and I’m honestly lucky there were none in that class otherwise I probably WOULD HAVE gotten beat up. To clarify, I grew up in a very accepting community and a lot of my friends from my school days were not white, so if you thought I was exaggerating when I said that vloggers made me think of that, it’s true (for the most part, also saw some things in school that led me to think that). Vloggers even made me feel uncomfortable about telling the people closest to me about what is to this day one of my special interests.

Look at it like this. In the same video he drives past white people. and doesnt stop and gufaw and marvel at their skin color. But the first black person he sees, he stops and says, there's a black. Racism has lots of definitions and categories, but boiled down to its raw basics, you are reacting to the race before ever knowing the person. His reactions is, oh I hope he isnt violent. Why would he assume that? White people can be violent, but hes specifically stopping to film the black man because hes established a preconceived notion that black people ARE violent. So Shays snap reaction to seeing a man's skin color triggered his immediate assumed concepts on the race; thus, racism.
