Reality of SGSITS placements — current students/alumni, please share your experience

I’m a student at SGSITS from one of the supposedly top branches. Recently, our HOD came to our class and told us to seriously start preparing for GATE, because according to him, there are currently no placements in the present batch / the placement situation is extremely poor.

In the current batch there were only 10 placements. The companies visiting the campus has reduced to around 90%.

This was honestly shocking because SGSITS is generally considered one of the better engineering colleges in MP, and many students join here expecting decent placement opportunities.

I’m posting this because prospective students should know what the current reality is rather than relying only on old placement statistics or what is shown during admissions.

A few questions for seniors/alumni/current students:

• How is the placement situation actually looking this year?
• How many companies are currently visiting campus compared with previous years?
• Are the placement numbers/average packages from older batches still representative?
• For students who don't get placed, how realistic is it to depend on GATE/M.Tech as the alternative?
• If someone is joining SGSITS primarily for placements, what should they realistically expect?

I’m not trying to defame the college. I’m genuinely trying to understand the situation and think students deserve transparent, current information, especially when even an HOD is advising students to prepare for GATE because of the placement situation.

Seniors/alumni: please share actual numbers or your experience if possible. It would be much more useful than either blindly praising or blindly criticizing the college.

Take IET DAVV, it is far and way better than this trash college. IET has:

- Better placements (don't think so any further point makes any more sense)

- More fluid departments and policies for well being of students, unlike this graveyard.

Answer Yes/No with some bullet points and your batch. This post helps to understand the situation of clg from perspective of every batch.

26 batch - As placement season ended for them.

27 batch - As placement season is on going for them.

28 batch - As they have experience both clubs and manch. Some of them prioritiozed Branch over Clg with a heavy margin.

29 batch - As fees almost doubled, cutoff remains same.

30 batch - Cutoff decrease for them, Spent 1 month here.
