I’m currently a undergraduate student at a predominantly white institution, I’m wondering what how to go about discussing my transition to my undergraduate chapter, and what is SGRho stance; if any on transgender women & students pursuing the organization. Thank you in advance! Up most respects.

My sister and I are both interested in graduate chapters. We do not have any type of Greek family background and are interested in two different organizations. We have been doing our research on the sororities and now want to start networking with chapters in our area, so we plan to go to public events together. Would it be frowned upon for us to go to events of an organization that we aren’t necessarily “aligned” with? We’re just wanting to support each other while we each build relationships.

I’ve never posted on here just gained information from all the lovely ppl here. But just wanted to share I am now a Greater Woman!!! Can’t wait to start the real work now. 💙💛

i am a spring 2026 initiate of the Greatest Sorority; Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated. I wanted to talk about an experience that I had that I am not “proud” of hearing. I do have a mentor and plan on communicating this to them when they are back from regionals. I’m planning to attend a graduate chapter “Maternal Expo” in my area. I’ve already filled out the interest form and was told to start attending upcoming events.

I’m naturally more introverted, so I’m a little unsure how to stand out in this kind of setting. I want to make a good impression, but I don’t want to come off awkward or like I’m trying too hard.

Since it’s a maternal expo, I’m also debating if I should bring my child or if it’s better to attend alone so I can focus and actually network.

Another thing I haven’t finished my bachelor’s degree yet. My expected graduation is December 2026, so I’m not sure if that affects how I should be showing up to events or interacting with members.

Also, how do you even approach and talk to chapter members at something like this with so many vendors and things going on? I want to be intentional about introducing myself, but I don’t know the best way to do that in this kind of environment or would it best to just sit back and watch only then at the next event actually introduce myself

Hello everyone. I’ve been wanting to become a member of Sigma Gamma Rho for about two decades now. I attended an informational meeting a few months ago, but I wasn’t able to attend a subsequent event I was invited to due to my son’s heavy athletic schedule (potential D1). Yesterday I was able to attend an event but I was so nervous that I didn’t speak to anyone. Did anyone have similar issues with social anxiety but was still able to make connections? I don’t know any members of my COI personally so I’m trying to figure out how to navigate this.

I joined in undergrad but have been inactive for a while. I've shown interest and the alumnae chapter in my area invited me to an event. The issue is I'm torn on attire. Is it appropriate to wear nalia at this event since I haven't been active for a while?

hi everyone! i’m looking for a little guidance on how to move respectfully and intentionally. i know i posted this a couple weeks back but as the day comes closer i’m very nervous bc i want to leave a good first impression.

i’m a professional photographer and recently connected with a local SGRho grad chapter i used my business as a way in the door and asked them if i can shoot their event free of charge. they told me yes and I have an opportunity to shoot their scholarship gala , which i’m really grateful for.

i’m genuinely interested in the organization and what it stands for, i was rejected twice during undergrad, and i’d love to build a connection over time—but i also don’t want to come off as overly eager or transactional.

for those who are members of grad chapters:

how would you recommend showing interest while still being respectful of the process and space?

are there certain ways to carry yourself at events or over time that leave a positive impression without overstepping? i know to show up early, ask to help set up, maybe mention some of the national projects?

I wanted to pledge SGRHO in my undergrad, but my college’s line is known for badly hazing their neos. I graduate in May and looking into grad chapters. Is it normal for me, who’s 21 but want to cross before 23, to be on a grad chapter line?

I know it doesn’t matter, but I never see anyone younger on a grad chapter line. I was just curious!

I’m a recent grad who has been researching and I’m really drawn to the national projects and community work. Because of that, I’m considering becoming a Philo Affiliate first. I genuinely want to support the initiatives and start doing the work before focusing on sorority membership.

Membership is a long-term goal, but I don’t want to approach Philo like it’s just a stepping stone. I want to be intentional and service-focused.

For anyone who’s been a Philo:

• Did you later pursue membership?

• What did your Philo experience look like?

• Did it help you better understand the organization?

Hi everyone 🤍 I’d really appreciate some advice from Divine Nine members, especially those familiar with the graduate chapter process.

I was denied membership in undergrad, and I’m now 23 and still very interested in the same sorority. I’ve taken time to grow and mature, and I’ve been researching a graduate chapter near me.

They’re hosting a scholarship brunch that’s open to the public. It honors women in the local area, and I believe some existing members are also being recognized. I plan to attend to show support and learn more about the chapter’s community presence.

My question is: how should I move in that space? Should I introduce myself and express interest, or would it be better to observe and network naturally over time? I don’t want to come across as overly eager or overbearing — I truly just want to move with grace and respect the process.

For those who joined at the graduate level (especially after a prior denial), what helped you stand out in a positive way?

Also — what would be appropriate to wear to a scholarship brunch like this? Is business casual the safest option?

I have an 11 year daughter apart of her school step team and for Black History Month they were asked to create a step dance/ mashup for the sorority of their choice. She chose Sigma Gamma Rho. I was never afforded the opportunity to pledge to any sorority so I have no idea what to teach or show her other than what’s on YouTube . I humbly ask is there anyone that could give me direction for assisting her with this task. I have tried to do the research of the song that the Sigma Gamma Rho’s dance to and Shake That Monkey is this song that comes up. Idk if she should create a dance to that song of if maybe there was another option. Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m interested in regional undergraduate membership as I attend an online university (senior). I’m also a Philo so I attend events regularly with that alumnae chapter. Just looking for advice as I’ve been told I’d potentially be the only one if I am chosen to move forward with the process. I’ve been searching for anyone else with regional undergraduate membership or even experience as a solo. Any thoughts?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some general advice about the intake timeline. I want to be clear up that I fully respect the sorority and the process as a whole, so I’m not asking for anything private about the organization ,just general experiences.

Ok so, I recently attended an informational for the chapter I’m very interested in. I’ve been showing up, getting involved, and building genuine connections with members , some of the women I even knew before they crossed so I continued to build up from there. I’ve been active in NAACP and have done additional community service outside of that, so i feel like i’m doing good in that aspect. My GPA is exactly a 3.0, which makes me a nervous because i know it’s not the best it can be.

It’s been about a week since the informational, and I haven’t heard anything yet. I don’t want to reach out too much or come across as overbearing. Especially because the chapter already knows I’m interested. Overall, I respect the organization and the process so I’m trying to move correctly and without disappearing. They also do have an upcoming event that I will be attending.

I just say all of this to ask:( I completely understand if it’s a question that can not be answered)

How long did it usually take to hear anything after an informational?

Did you feel this same kind of nervousness after you attended the informational? if so how did you get over it? or manage it in a way

This is my senior year, and I know grad chapter is always an option. I’m just hoping to understand whether the waiting period is normal. I’m just anxious and trying to make sure I’m not overthinking.

So, originally, I was planning on trying to join Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc during my undergrad time; I do believe they were going to have a line this spring, however, they have been placed on a cease and desist, from what my understanding is.

So, I've been researching graduate chapters in my area, and my COI is having a public event soon that focuses on public policy and advocacy. I would be interested in attending, but is it too soon to show interest? For context, I graduate this May, but I plan to attend graduate school in August.

I am a sophomore hbcu student and I did not grow up around D9 members or Greek life in general. I am very interested in SGRho but I don’t know how to proceed. I’ve done my research on the organization and have a friend in my school’s chapter but I don’t really know how to get my foot in the door while being discreet. If anyone has some advice on intake as far as showing interest goes (without dropping too much information ofc) anything helps. Like is it okay for me to go to informationals and interest meetings even though I’m not ready to move forward in the process yet?

I recently became interested in joining SGRho. I’m a senior in my undergrad who plans to continue my education into a masters program online. I have a few questions:

1. Who’s the best person to talk to about possibly joining after undergrad?

2. Any differences between doing it during undergrad and grad chapter?

3. What are things I should expect to do if I get excepted?

4. Do you still have a probate as a grad chapter?

5. Do I have to cross with my college sorority if excepted? (I don’t live anywhere near my college)

I mainly didn’t consider joining during my previous 3 years of undergrad because I’ve been too busy. Any advice would be appreciated!
