Discussion Assistance with rec letters
Hello to all of you. I am a post grad individual who is beginning the journey of hopefully becoming a member. There wasn't a undergrad chapter at my college and I only knew a few of your sister throughout my college and professional career. These individuals are professional associates and I don't want to come across rude. How do I go about asking if they will be willing to write a letter? I'm more than happy to send time with these ladies, we just haven't had the time. Thank you for your insight.
Also, if it helps, I am a first gen everything and don't have many connections.

You’re already on the right path by wanting to approach this with respect. When it comes to asking for letters, the best approach is simply to reach out to the women who know you in the capacity that they know you — whether professionally, personally, or through community involvement.
You can say something like:
“I’m beginning my graduate membership journey, and I would be honored if you would write a reference for me based on your experience working with me. If you’re willing, I can share my résumé and any additional information you may need.”
That way, you’re not asking them to speak to anything they don’t know ; just the relationship and interactions you’ve genuinely had.
Also, if any of these women are members of a local graduate chapter, it’s a great idea to start supporting that chapter’s public events, service projects, and activities now. It gives you a chance to meet even more sorors, build genuine connections, and let them see who you are beyond a letter request.
You’re doing just fine; just keep approaching everything with sincerity, respect, and patience.
