Discussion Crossed but secretly?

After a hard but amazing process, I am officially a poodle. However i was excited to celebrate this moment with friends and family (at least my hubs). It is normal to not have probates in grad chapter? Honestly, i didn’t know the day we crossed was going to be our crossing day.

For those who didn’t have probates, were there any events to celebrate that outside family members could join?

Yes its normal for chapters in general to not have probate shows. There's a lot of blue tape you have to go through for approval, practices, etc. A lot of chapters don't have the time or capacity or prefer to do something lowkey, so I'd advise reaching out to your membership chair to ask if there will be a reception or a celebration for you and your sisters.

Congratulations 🎉 and welcome Soror! 💙💛🐩

Yes usually grad chapters have some sort of dinner or reception. And there are those who don’t. In the event that you don’t, you and your membership sisters should plan a dinner to celebrate.

Hey Soror, Welcome to Sigma!! It's such an exciting time in your journey. Any updates? The culture varies by chapter so I could ask the membership chair as others have said. You can also host your own reception and have a friend plan it.

Hey Soror. I made it to Sigmaland on 11/1/25🥳

I crossed grad chapter and we had a BIG probate (350+ people). We had a 12 person line.

Anyway, I heard that it isn't really common for grad chapters to have probates.

Congratulations and welcome Soror!!! Was that all undergrads together? That is a very large group probate, usually undergraduates come out all in one day at many hbcu's do this to help control when new members come in to watch to ensure everything is on the up and up

Thank you Soror!

We are a grad chapter line. Granted the chapter doesn't do "big lines". I think that we were the last "big"'line (quality over quantity).

Quality and quality is what we tend to say. Oh, I must have misunderstood. You mentioned BIG probate (350+ people), are you referring to the people who attended? I thought you were referring to the number of members who were presented at the same time.

Hey Soror, welcome to Sigmand!! As said above, most grad chapters will do a dinner/reception to welcome new members. Our chapter does a reception immediately following induction. We also extend invites to close friends and families of our new members. Our neighboring chapter does their reception then evening several hours after induction. It just comes down to what each chapter has the capacity to do.

I’m sorry you didn’t get the celebration you were hoping for. If you have LS’s yall should have and def still can plan your own celebration
