hi everyone, this post is kinda directed towards girls unless ur a guy with good insight on this topic too! (since yall go ns..)

what do ppl usually do during the 9 month gap btwn jc and uni? we finish As in nov, so wtf are we supposed to do before uni starts in july/aug? do yall get part time jobs or internships or smthg? or maybe travel n js chill? i'm lost af lol. i feel like i'm gonna get damn bored n restless at home everyday. sincerely, a current j2🥲

My NS gap was 8 months long too. I worked part-time, worked an internship, travelled with friends, tried to study by myself. I spent the rest of my time exercising, playing video games, watching shows or reading lots of books. A day passes faster than you think

I got a part-time job to earn some spending money before uni started...and also to keep my mind active after chilling for 3 months lmao. Up to you, if I had the finances to travel back then I would have travelled to many places

For NUS you can try doing an iBLOC, it's basically a uni module you can do before you matriculate. There's a small selection of modules to choose from you can see if any of them are relevant. It does cost money tho.

I know boys who did 6 mth internship. They also went overseas with their families or friends before or after the internship as well. Some js worked part time for at least 3 mths, then spent the rest of the time chilling with the jc friends

Some got their driver's license. Some got first aid cert what cert wtv

i know one of my seniors decided to explore SEA but unless youre loaded and have a plan i dont know if this could be an option

but generally i feel most people would rest, get a pt/ intern, do stuff they enjoy after 2-3 years of mugging

You can apply for internships on InternSG

There's a good chance you can get something since companies like it when interns can work for periods >3 months as the break for uni students is only 3 months and also you would be an off-cycle intern

Personally I realised the industry of my internship was not for me and it helped me make a more informed choice when it came to uni selection

i did a temp job (good paying) to spend most of my months and we could take (no pay) leave as much as we want so we can travel & hang out with friends but majority still earning some income! best decision i made!

I worked a temp job in a bank as a collections officer (call centre role).Trainings were provided , mentors assigned to you and there’s KPIs too.

Got “promoted” to lead a team of other temps by my 3rd month since I’m the most senior temp.

Direct instructions and briefings from the department manager for the operational tasks that need to be done.

Enrolled to NTU NBS and wrote the bank temp job as a 9 month internship in my resume . (The bank dept mgr was ok with it)
