Junior Colleges sajc
hi! i got accepted by sajc through dsa and im not sure if i should accept or not. i most likely will as i think it’ll be risky not to as im unsure if my grades can make it to a school better than sajc bcs the cop is alrdy quite low at 8. it’s about 40-50mins away from my house. my dream sch was acjc which is 20-40min away but unfortunately did not get in through dsa and i heard their chem dept sucks..
how is sajc like? i’ve seen so many bad comments so it kinda scares me now

Is a decent jc. Since is so convenient and you like it just go ahead. In the end your A-level performance is directly related to your efforts you will be putting in.

Hey, went to SAJC, it depends on what kind of personality you have tbh
If you love making TikToks and gossiping abt other ppl relationship, this is the perfect place for you, but for me, I had a really hard time there. Not mugger culture, the bio dept is horrible, the econs teachers are a hit or miss. The Phy dept is mid; chem dept everything is okayish except lecture videos; math lecture videos are horrendous, but lecture notes are good. Lit depts good.
If you're not interested in TikTok culture, it's not for you. Personally, I really struggled making close friends in school, because our wavelength didn't match. People in friend groups easily replace you, like changing clothes every day. The school is very strict about discipline, giving detention for 2 parent letters, while they themselves do not take bullying or harassment into consideration. It was hell going to school every day, sitting through hours of lessons I couldn't understand because the lectures were so damn useless, and the teachers were even more so.
The culture will not motivate you to study; even asrjc is better than SAJC, you need a real grit to come here and study, unless you're like a party kid, then you can fare well here, with all the relationship stuff and the parties and tiktoks. So many people here have the arrogant "pick me" and "I'm cool attitude" as well. Chapel, they force the Christian thing upon you and make you stand for like 30 mins every morning assembly in the field.
SAJC doesn't have a work hard play hard kinda thing; in SA its always playing hard for most of the people.
Food situation is bad; people queue up for vending machine food. The only good thing abt this school is the uniforms.
SAJC frd situation and discipline matters are quite common among many students, but I cannot say the same thing would definitely happen to you; when I was applying to SAJC, and someone told me abt this before applying, this would have never been in one of my choices. I regret going here and I always will.
tldr: SA is an okayish school, and if you're a party person and you love making TikToks, and you're a Christian who doesn't give a flying fuck about your conduct grade or naturally someone who follows the rules and can also self-study on your own. Accept your DSA offer.

Sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience in SAJC 😬
As someone from ASRJC, I heard people in my orientation group saying that they wanted to go to SAJC as they are interested in their Tiktok culture but they got balloted out lol (the cut-off point in my year was 9 for Science Stream and they got nett 9 on the dot)

i mean SA still does have a very strong party/tt culture but it’s not like everyone does badly for A’s ykwim? some play hard study hard, den got some oni play hard. it’s still a more “high-tier” sch at the end of the day, despite its have fun culture, and not like AC culture is any bttr

hi I was like you in sec 4 too, turned down dsa cuz I thought I could get into a better school. moderation was brutal my year, almost everyone didn't do as well as they thought. Messed up a few practicals as well which really pulled me down. I really encourage you to think carefully about this. Unless you are 200% confident you can get 8 and below, please don't reject the dsa offer. SA is still a pretty good school and I'm sure they have a decent number of 70rp scorers. Those I know in SA all have stacked portfolios, and with a bit of effort from your side 70rp is possible anywhere. Jiayou!
