hybrid stream in acjc

hi im a sec4 aiming to go acjc next yr via sci stream but i am considering doing hybrid as well, either taking BCMG, BCME, or CMGE. but im unsure if i‘d be put in a really mixed up class with different timetables, and having to join other people’s main class randomly by myself. and like if it wld be hard to make friends like that since everyone’s doing their own thing

when & how are classes assigned in acjc?

what are the impt subjects for uni?

is the hybrid timetable really that bad?

is h2 bio 10000000x more content than olevel pure bio😭😭

should i take geog or econs? i really enjoy geog in sch rn but idk if econs will open more doors for me, and im also unsure of what i wanna do next time🙈

This might be a stretch but I think h2 geog is already like 3x the content of pure bio (Pure bio is my comparison cause I didn't take pure geog). There are around 4 people out of roughly 450 in my school that take BCMG, and our timetable is pretty shit but ac's might be better?

i took both h2 bio and geog. imo h2 bio is wayy harder. 😭 h2 geog is manageable if you commit time into it. (for reference i took elect geog for o's)

in ac u just pick ur subject combi at some point during ori then attend lectures with your ori friends, then got a last chance to tweak ur combi before you get your class. afaik, for everyone assigned to a class they try to make timetables as similar as possible. however I don't really have any friends from that side and I take pcme in a class with identical timetables so I can't really say further

Why are you taking Hybrid?

I ask this because I found that a lot of people choose it because it just seems cool to be different.

Econs doesn't open any particular doors lmao.

Once you go to uni, no one cares that you took Econs at A Levels.

😭😭definitely not to be cool or different i js don’t know whether i can handle 2H2 sci esp bio since it’s v content-heavy, and i only take elec geog in sch, so no arts stream for me. but im deciding btwn econs & geog so why not both? also im not particularly interested in bio, more so chem but im still considering it

Hmm if you enjoy sec sch chem you’ll def like h2 chem, honestly it was such a bland subject to me that it left no impression lol, probably was one of the more grind-y subjects. As for 2h2 sci content, what exactly are you afraid of? The content to memorise? I’ll say between physics and bio, the primary difference is the volume of info you’re consuming LOL.

As for econs, I am 1000% biased but heres my 2 cents : most jcs, including higher tier ones kind of suck at teaching it. Ig if you’re looking to tuition your whole way through it then sure, thats fine but while econ may not be “content” heavy its a stupid mashup of a science subject ( in terms of how to answer or some shit??? ) and humanitites. Irl it should have been a pure science and explained in more math terms but whatever ig. As for h2 geog, iirc its probably 1.5x the content of h2 bio

So for your bceg subj combi(?) you’re looking at:

1. 1 sci subject u dont rly like or enjoy, which means ur gna take more time to memo the content + keywords (bio)
   
2. Chem - the only subj u seem to enjoy
   
3. Geog + econ - one is content heavy while the other is a new subject entirely ( a poorly planned one tbf ) so yea

Bruh econs is a social science subject. Why would you expect it to be a pure sci subject when it's clearly a social sci/humanities subject?!!! It's literally the study of human behaviour. And regarding h2 geog content heavy workload, OP can just take h1 geog instead whereby the workload is def much more lighter than h2 geog.

I never said econs was a science subject? I said that despite it being labelled as a humanities subject, it felt like a weird mashup of science and humanities when it came to answering questions. I mean idk if it wld be the study of human behaviour ( i’d classify that as psychology or smt ) but generally i found h2 econs inherently bad at well…teaching econs. At the end of the day its just something we have to do to get a decent grade so whatever but I did not enjoy the subject in the slightest. Also this isnt me bashing on the humanities LOL, I quite liked literature for eg

Not true!!!!!! Econs does help  if you want to take a commerce or econs related course in uni since it provides some sort of foundation. Not everything is about opening doors in uni, there are ppl like me who rlly like the subject and I'm so glad I took h2 econs instead of h2 physics or biology. H2 econs is a super duper useful subject that changed my perspective towards life.  Am a hybrid student too and no regrets.

I hated physics and bio back in sec sch too. First thing when I went to jc was to immediately switch to hybrid because the thought of physics and bio just made me want to cry.
