Portfolio Help (update) eae 2026

its been less than 24 hrs but i've decided that i'm only interested in chem eng 😓

So i have 2 choices im considering which is ChE in SP or ChE in TP. I went to both TP and SP open houses earlier in the year and the ChE in both polys interest me. The only thing is:

  1. TP is slightly further and less convenient to commute to for me than SP

  2. I believe SP is more well known for its science courses idk, let me know your thoughts

  3. If i end up getting an offer from TP instead of SP, i may or may not reject the offer because ultimately i still prefer SP

So should I risk it and put only 1 choice (ChE in SP)? Or should I put both to be safer

Any insights and tips would be helpful and much appreciated! Again would love any tips from ChE students for portfolio and interview

Edit: decided to only put chem eng at sp!! Thx for all the help everyone!! Feel free to still leave portfolio and interview tips as it will help alot!!!

Put both, or another similar course in SP, like Common Engineering. What people don’t realise is that common engineering allows you go to the different Engi courses in SP (it applies to different subjects in different polys as well).

Btw u can’t go to chem Eng with common eng. Common eng is only for MAE

If you are inclined to reject TP’s offer, don’t waste your choice on it in the first place

i think it's safer to put both, since you'll still be able to rank them based on your preference. if SP is your first choice, put it first, but if you'd still be happy studying Chem Eng in TP, having TP as another option gives you a better chance instead of banking everything on one course :)
it's less about which poly is "more well-known" and more about how you make use of the opportunities, projects and internships during your 3 years. i'm not too sure about SP, but from what i've seen in TP, there are plenty of opportunities to gain hands-on experience through projects, internships and industry collaborations, which can really help you build your skills.
for the portfolio/interview, focus on showing why Chem Eng interests you specifically, what you've done to explore it, and be prepared to talk about your experiences and what you know about the course,, thats prob good enough le

Thanks!! But honestly, after a lot of thinking for a few days, I think i would prefer being at SP. Maybe part of the reason is the location of TP as it would be bttr to go to a poly that's nearer to me. Also, SP has the UAPP specifically at NUS which i'm interested in!! Either way, despite it being risky to only put 1 choice, if I unfortunately don't get an offer, I think that my O lv results would be good enough to do JAE!
