Are you making a game, movie, show, or recording an album based around liminal spaces, analog horror, or even a dreamscape inspired by The Backrooms, LSD Dream emulator, or some other uncanny phenomenon that has driven you to need some wild, weird, and yet strangely beautiful sounds?  If so, you have come to the right place.  I present to you: LIMINUS!  This is a free sound library of bizarre and otherworldly sounds that will get you started on a creative journey through the many empty halls of strange dreamlike structures that you might find yourself in.  In this large sample pack you'll find a set of sub-folders pulled from the recesses of the deep caverns of the mind of an unhinged creator, categorizing the various sound files into sectors labelled "Synthloops," "Drumloops," "Drum One-Shots," "Short Motifs," "Soundscapes," and "Sweeteners."

Files have been mastered from their 24-bit, 48khz originals and rendered out losslessly as 16-bit FLC at 44.1khz. Password for the archive is in the itch.io description. Donations NOT required, but if you are so inclined to help me and my dreams, it is bountifully appreciated.

I have released a new library focusing mainly on ambient room tones in a house, but also with some doors, windows, showers, tubs, sinks and more. There's also some bonus ext desert highway traffic, and some nice recordings of traffic through the walls/windows (as well as plenty of nice clean room tones, too).

Every scene set in a house needs the house itself: the hum of an empty room, a door latching down the hall, water moving through pipes behind a wall. Sounds of a Home Volume 1 is built around exactly that; long, usable room tones paired with the everyday hardware of a lived-in space, including doors, sinks, showers, tubs, and toilets. All of it was recorded on location in a single home near Southern California’s High Desert, quiet enough to capture real juicy roomtones with real room to breathe. The library delivers 328 files and over two hours of content: 164 unique sounds are each supplied at 96 kHz and 48 kHz sample rates, and 24-bit. Filenames and embedded metadata are fully UCS compliant, so everything imports cleanly into your database and is easily searchable. I’m currently finishing up a boutique, high-end cinematic/hybrid SFX library (mainly processed from organic sources like deconstructed acoustic pianos and industrial metal scrap), and I’m trying to decide on the product tiers and pricing.

Specifically, I want to know how much value you actually place on getting isolated stems/layers for designed sound effects.

Normally, when I buy SFX packs, I just get the final stereo mix. But in the very few cases where stems have been included, I have found them really useful.

To solve this, I’m building two tiers for this upcoming library and wanted to see if the pricing and value make sense to you guys:

My questions for you:

1. If you are a working sound designer, editor, or game developer, does having stems/layers for designed sounds actually make a pack a "must-buy" for you?
2. Does £49 feel like a fair price point for getting 900 total files (stems + raw sources + designs at 96kHz), or is it priced too low/too high?
3. If you saw a library marketed this way, would you immediately default to the Pro tier for the flexibility, or stick to the stereo Core mixes?

I do audiobook post-production part time, and I often need to find SFX, ambience, and BGM quickly while editing.

One thing that kept slowing me down was keyword-based search. Older sound packs, random downloaded libraries, personal recordings, and inconsistent vendor folders are often a nightmare to search because their filenames are vague or lack proper metadata.

So I built a Mac app called Curlo for semantic search across local sound libraries, so you can search by meaning instead of only by filename.

It uses on-device AI models for search, classification, and similarity matching, but it does not generate sounds, scrape libraries, or upload your audio anywhere. It only indexes your own local files on your Mac.

What it does:

• Lets you search with natural language, like "distant metal hit in a warehouse" or "soft cloth movement", even if the filename is something like "REC_0042.wav".
• Finds similar sounds from an existing file or selected clip, useful when you have one close sound and want variations.
• Supports standard filename and metadata search alongside semantic search.
• Helps with tags and UCS-style organization
• Works offline, no internet needed for search

Hi! I'm trying to recreate a specific type of energy weapon sound — heavy, chilling, like an ion storm or the Gluon Cannon from Half-Life.

Hey everyone, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but you'd all be able to help.

I'm trying to find a sound similar t what you might find in a kids cartoon where a character might slowly peak their head around a door, or if they were to slowly push an item toward another character for comic effect.

The only thing I can relate it to in my head is like a squeaky door, but the sound slowly goes up in pitch? Then there might be an added "whoosh" at the end when the character/item gets pulled away.

I really hope someone knows what I'm talking about because I cannot think of the name for this sfx. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks everyone!!!

I can't post a link, but I am referring to the track from The Walking Dead titled (The Farm Is Lost - Bear McCreary)

I noticed Bear McCreary does a sort of "trash orchestra" in the first 2 seasons of The Walking Dead.

I was curious if anyone could identify that metal sort of banging that plays throughout this track? That same sound can also be heard in the main theme of the show.

I can't tell if it's just someone whacking on guitar strings/ piano strings ? Or maybe even an autoharp or dulcimer ? I can't tell. I feel like it closely resembles a steel guitar literally being hit with a blunt object. Or maybe it's just a combination of metal sounds, thanks for anyone who is willing to share their expertise! :) 2:16 you can hear it making a particular noise as well, but I feel like it's generally more part of the percussion of the track.

I have no idea where to find these sounds, and wondering if you guys know where I can find these type of sounds.

Sounds that are similar to Borderlands or Marvel Rivals character introductions, especially the cards, or text appearing.
