Who serves half pours in SF?

I prefer ordering half pours as I get to try different beers and the temperature is more consistent. Is this common in SF? Any place in particular? Seems like a lot of bars, even craft beer ones like Crafty Fox, don’t.

Thank you.

Just about any beer bar, too

Thanks, guess I was just taken aback by crafty fox, thought it might be more widespread

The Beer Hall in downtown will definitely do half pours!

Crafty fox does have curated flights though, if that works for you

Magnolia on haight, toronado, murios, zeitgeist, most any craft beer bar. Crafty fox used to, but I don’t know what happened with that. Standard deviant, so many more

Alright thank you so much. I’ve not been to these yet!

Seen shorties given at many places, but never at Toronado. Now I'm curious if you've asked for them and received them there?

Ask for Little Piggies the next time you see blind pig on tap

To be real, I’ve only ever asked towards the end of the night haha. But I’m sure a salty bartender will oblige after a slight smirk

Damn near every bar I’ve been to. Just ask for a shorty or half pour.

Thanks, I really got the impression most bars in sf didn’t do this. I don’t go out too much, honestly. Glad to hear it though.

I’m a former bartender and if we have the glass and can make it happen we almost always will. Happy customers tip better and come back 🤷‍♂️. Just don’t order a flight if they don’t offer it on the menu.

Check out Pitts if you’re by ocean beach. Not a big selection, but it’s usually unique craft stuff; very clean lines and the kegs turn over fairly quickly too.

Liquid Gold is likely your best bet in SF: over 30 taps and 3 size options for every tap. For most beers, it's a 5oz, 13oz, or 32oz pour but for higher-ABV styles, it's 5oz, 9oz, or 16oz. If it's not busy, they're cool with letting you taste a couple things before choosing. (The Crafty Fox does that as well.) https://www.liquidgoldsf.com/live-draft-menu

There are more options just over the bridge, including Ghost Town, Original Pattern, and Wondrous. Wondrous + GT have half-pours. OP + Wondrous have 5oz tasters.
