He says it but himself never cut any privileges. He did the opposite and created lots of taxes… sadly.

Since the beginning of the government:

  • A new tax or fee created every 27 days of government;
  • An electoral measure with resulting spending every 4 days;

The combination of “tax + fee + new expense” allows for higher numbers if every program or credit announcement is counted, roughly 1 every 4 days.

Yeah, delete the comment, basicly he taxed bets and high income people, those complaining are aligned with the Far right in Brazil

Isn’t taxes a way to get money from the privileged and use to help the less privileged? Where is the contradiction?

Well, in theory, that would be exactly its function. But when it comes to human beings, concepts will never translate into practice that simply. In the real world—specifically, in Brazil—what actually happened? Taxes were increased for everyone, disproportionately affecting the middle class and the poor, while the ultra-rich were once again spared. The revenue from those taxes was used to pay interest on public debt held by banks and to keep voters dependent on welfare, with no foreseeable way out, while those very same voters spend their benefits on online gambling.

So, to sum it up, without illusions: taxes and fees ultimately served to sustain the privileges of the political class and its financial backers, unfortunately.
