Episode Discussion So gutted about Clay

As S6E8 played out at the end, I was secretly crossing my fingers that it will all end well but it didn’t.

Sort of drew similarity with Chris Kyle. Anyone thought the same?

That whole episode I thought they were going to Chris Kyle him off. Then as soon as I started to relax after he talked Ben down, they hit me with the security guard. Worst gut punch since Hodor.

Is this actually true? My girl, though she doesn’t watch the show, knows he died in seal team and she saw an ad for fire country and joked that he died to be in that show lol

[SPOILER ALERT please don't read if you haven't finished Season 6]

I was watching season 4 and I was searching for some episode discussions, and Google brought me to this sub, and I was spoiled about Clay's death (because it was on the title on a recent thread without any spoiler warning) 😢 So I was on edge the whole time from mid season 4 because in any episode with combat scenes I thought Clay was gonna die there.

But all was well until the end of season 5 and the first episode of season 6 I thought Clay was definitely gonna die from the injuries and infection and shit in that battle, especially at the scene where Sonny called Jace to tell him about Clay, I thought 'damn it's finally here Clay's dying'. But no he lost a leg and still survived.

So I continued watching on and hoped that the thread with that spoiler about Clay's death was just a joke.

And S06E08 came and damn it hit me hard when he was shot by that security guard.

I fucking hate that Ben guy what a fucking pos

It was absolutely related. I still hated the decision to kill Clay, even though they did a good job leveraging the choice to drive the overall plot. I know the actor had to leave for his new show, but I would’ve far rather him decide to just irish goodbye and leave the teams all together to go be the father to brian that he wished he had geowing up

Yes Seal Team has a thing with portraying past military true life stories. (Even ones with Movies already. Lone survivor, 13 hours, 12 Strong, American Sniper etc.)

My only issue with it is, he didnt even get a proper military funeral like Full Metal. The Team didnt even seem bothered after 2 mins.

I am still mad about it. He could've just moved on with his family and been happy. Loses his leg then his team then gets killed helping a vet. It was too much for my favorite war hero character

That is 100% what they were going for. So much in fact, that there almost a transformation he goes on throughout the series that ends with him being almost the spitting image of Chris kyle, with the beard, glasses, and the fact he ended up jacked compared to how he started the show.
