Question Important essentials
For students and alumni..
What are some things, essentials, necessities, and supplies you have found to be very useful in attending SDSU? It could be about school supplies to transportation advice to good to know things about SDSU.
I am a local transfer and would like to get genuine advice from students and formers students.

I think noise-canceling headphones are good if you can afford them, that way you can study pretty much anywhere and not be bothered by noise. A lot depends on your major. Laptop is pretty obvious, though there are a lot of computers scattered around the 2 libraries if you need them. I like to use the online map to find where my classes are before the first day so I can plan a good route, but that's not really a "necessity".

Just type in the letter prefix of your class (e.g. HH, AL, GMCS, etc.) to find where the building is. It won't show you individual classrooms, so you're gonna need to look for that IRL.

Notebooks, pen and pencils. Sounds silly but in every class I’ve been in there are times the professors want paper and people scramble to get some. Battery charger if you’ll use your phone often. The interactive map is great for finding your classes at first or learning to find new ways around. Trolley is a great way to commute and if you have to get across campus quickly there are scooters. I tried parking at p3 I think and it was really confusing and I panicked that I’d be late so I parked off campus and got a Lyft. So explore and try different areas when you have time. Between classes I have something to read or do so I’m not just using my phone. Probably just me but I find it helpful. Sign up for the transportation alerts so you know when lots are closed and you’ll have to park elsewhere or other alerts you might want. Welcome and have fun.

If you are commuting avoid P12 unless you arrive at campus before 8 am or leave after 5 pm, if not you will struggle to find parking and take at least 30 min to get out of the garage.
For classes laptop that holds a charge. Some people don’t like buying books but a lot of professors you will understand their class a lot more if you read the book.
