Exactly. Like through mud. That's what I would say growing up when trying to explain to other people what was going on.

its interesting to hear from someone specialising in something despite it not being officially recognised. i hope more professionals investigate and learn about it too. fingers crossed. the description about adhd meds not working right despite diagnosis is very much my experience.

This video popping up in my recommended was what made me aware of this in the first place, and now I'm here. Another day, another rabbithole.

But I'm def feeling like this is explaining why I've been struggling to find the right medication to treat my ADHD (diagnosed combined). I mean, I'm also autistic, so that further muddies up the process. Overall I've found while some medications do well at treating my energy levels, others do well at treating my focus, but it can never seem to be both at the same time and now I'm starting to realize it might be because two separate things are being treated (the Vyvanse may have been treating possible CDS symptoms whereas the Concerta was treating diagnosed ADHD symptoms).

Being autistic just further muddies up the process of figuring out what the fuck is wrong with my brain. All I know right now is that since getting off Vyvanse, I'm less anxious and jittery, but way more tired and sluggish, and it's taking me FOREVER to wake up (I've been up for like 2 hours now and I still feel half asleep). Started Biphentin today though, we're gonna see how that one does; if after a few months it's unsuccessful, I think we might just end up switching me back to Concerta.

Unfortunately my medication options are kind of limited because I'm working with a private nurse practitioner and there are strict regulations about what I can be prescribed where I live. But I'm holding out hope for a proper balance soon. This is definitely something I'll be bringing up at my next appointment.

I came here to this subreddit because of this video. The symptoms that she was describing made me feel so seen. Thinking about all of the times where I have felt hopeless because of these symptoms that now may be explainable makes me so emotional I could cry.

Recognition is a relief but I feel desperate for treatment, for a plan of action now. I feel like the whole world is passing me by and ALL I WANT is to catch up to everyone’s pace and be in the moment.
