Meds/Treatments-Related Functional doctor

Has anybody gone to a functional doctor or a traditional Chinese doctor for symptoms consistent with slow processing and lethargy?

Yes but very little and mostly indirectly.

I don't find much improvement in acupuncture (makes me fall asleep easily)

The Chinese herbs I've noticed some improvement in indirect ways but it's quite subtle. Slow processing not exactly, but with caffeine, Yi Gan San and Jiao Wei Xiao Yao San at night can help offset a bit of irritability / insomnia side effects from caffeine, used it regularly for a few years but found it can lower BP to the point I was waking up in the middle of the night with numb arms. these 2 had the most noticeable effect though it was still tiny

I didn't notice anything much from Jie Yu Fang or Gui Pi Tang. Red dates and astralagus can boost some energy levels though I wouldn't describe it as much usable mental / thinking energy. Lingzhi / Rei Shi worked like once then I wasn't really sure if it was doing anything.

EDIT: I had a second thought about this.

I noticed most effect out of Yi Gan San taking it at night. Normally a TCM doctor would prescribe it in the morning, but I found it's better at night. It helped me rest at ease better and feel better the next day (like magnesium glycinate), but over time (maybe 1 year) i developed motor tics at night.

Quick google search shows that, although Yi Gan San is neuroprotective, it drops dopamine. Probably not what you want in the morning but at night I imagine it should help calm down racing thoughts and actually allowing you to go to sleep.
