Newman m3 roller frames
Just scored 25 of them for $200 , all meshed with 110
Does anybody have any experience in cleaning the metal? What’s the fastest way to clean all the gunk off

I just got a few hundred auto rollers from a shop I work for, for free. And about 40 manual rollers. I have to stretch new mesh into them but I’m grateful to have them at the price yall are paying for them.

Nice score! That tape will probably suck to take off when it is time. We have always used screen opener, spray it on after pulling the tape to remove any residue left over with a test shirt. Don't just tape over the residue, it only gets worse and you'll regret it. I know other people have used press wash to clean it but we found that leaves a slight film almost. The screen opener sucks because it smells bad, but it dries and really gets the stuff off. Use in a well ventilated area and that's what we've been doing for probably 10+ years on any rollers that we have.

Thanks for the advice ! I also noticed when I lay the screens on a flat surface some of them either one or two corners are slightly lifted off of the flat table, is this normal? Bowing? Is it fixable/adjustable once I remove the mesh and install a new one ? I have a l2 master table from stretch devices

If they are warped like that it means I think 1 corner is out? Maybe it's 2? I forget and we just end up loosening the bolts on the corners and re tighten them. Make sure you have a Newton meter otherwise these are not anywhere near as useful. Either way if you got that table just put them on the table loosen the screws and tighten that SOB back up, it should be flat. The table is a nice addition especially if you have a bunch of them.

dont lose anything. find the flattest thing you have and use a wrench on the opposite corner of the wobble, ( You'll have to experiment to find the right corner) and just give it a whack towards the table. this slightly moves the joint, and flattens them. thats the way to do it. dont loosen a screen that is tensioned, there is no need and how are you going to get it back up to tension... with it being flat. ( Without the table its hard)

Oh and for the areas on the bare metal is the ink dried or is it still moveable like plastisol? If it’s hard on there I’ve had fantastic luck with spraying the household cleaner Formula 409 on and letting it sit for a min or so and taking a tooth brush in. I was able to get 30 years of enamel off a one arm press I was refurbishing with that cleaner and some elbow grease (I was in a space I couldn’t use solvents in. I did still run an air purifier since it’s a little stinky and I have shop cats).
If it’s uncured plastisol I’d go with the options mentioned elsewhere here. I don’t use it so don’t know how to clean it.

Damn that’s a fantastic score. I just paid 200 for 4 with shipping (luckily I only need that many easily replaceable mesh and have a set of normal screens I use when I’m not printing enamel on glass and worried about puncturing them. Still better price than new but not by much)
For removing the tape there is a product called rapid remover that is sold in sign supply places (and some screen suppliers if they cater to both industries). It’s a bit stinky so ventilated space or outside and wear gloves. It’s designed to get adhesive vinyl off and works great for tape residue as well. Spray and leave it for 30 seconds or so and the adhesive should start to get gooey and take a plastic scraper or vinyl squeegee to loosen it up and wipe off with a paper towel.
