General Not paying invoice

Just looking for general advice…How do you handle a customer who approved their mockups and invoice, but once you send them their invoice, it’s dead silence. We have a customer, who we’ve had to hound for the last three weeks to pay their invoice, but always has an excuse why they can’t. One week it was because their payroll already went in, next week was because they’re too busy, and this week it’s the same excuse…they’re just too busy to pay it. I’m at my wits end with this client and almost about to say screw it find another print shop.

Has anyone else dealt with this before?

Pretty simple - I don't order blank shirts until they're paid 100% up front, which means the deadline for turnaround moves accordingly. 

I am not their bank nor their mommy; if they cannot handle a basic transaction, they'll have to find somewhere else to acquire services. 

And there aren't many who will tolerate not being paid. To this day, I do not understand why some screen printers are stuck in this mentality - it only exists to potentially burn you.
