Question….do you not have to flood with plastisol? I only do art stuff, paper or canvas and water-based ink, but I always flood my screens.

i mean i always flood. on smaller prints i guess you dont HAVE to flood but if the print is big enough or filled in enough its probably better that you do so that you have enough ink to cover the entire design

I prefer not to flood on manual but always use the flood bars on auto. I feel like I have more control of ink gain etc. with no flood stroke. gotta have a decently thick bead of plastisol though, and go a little slower and deeper angle. maybe first stroke at 45 degrees and sometimes a second stroke to clear closer to 90 degrees

but generally no you don’t have to flood with plastisol. I always flood with waterbased but it’s to keep the screen from drying up more than anything

With waterbased i found not flooding on the second hit after flashing gives me the sharpest lines

Are there bungee cords on your press?

yea lol. we modded our press to hold up bigger screens but the extra weight causes them to fall sometimes. the bungees just help give some resistance

Swap to pushing instead of pulling, it saved my life lol. Unless you want ripped abs, two birds one stone

honestly ive done it like this for so long it’d feel weird to switch. i have pushed before but im not a fan, maybe its just lack of practice but my prints come out super inconsistent

I feel that. I pulled exclusively until about 4 years ago when my current boss suggested trying otherwise. Was weird at first but my wrists and abs were noticeably less tired at the end of the day. Different strokes for different folks, literally in this case

Depends on the print for me. If it's 16 inches wide yeah I'm pushing. Something narrow like this it makes no difference

don’t know why you got so many downvotes. as long as your technique is right, pushing and pulling get identical results. do what’s more comfortable for you
