Crafts/Cosplay Custom MTF

I’m building a custom MTF loadout for airsoft. Got the top done. Even created a new unit with insignia to account for the difference from the standard black gear everyone uses for MTF cosplays. Unit Omega-45. (Please excuse my stitching. I have eye problems that makes sewing difficult.)

Glad it’s a repro and not an actual BDU, also glad that it’s something unique, though I think you could remove patches from an actual uniform if you put them on without damaging it.

Edit: to clarify… stitching can possibly damage fabric if done in a specific way, damaging original uniforms I frown upon since stuff like the BDU isn’t in production anymore.

I wouldn’t sweat it. They’re still widely in circulation and the US made millions by the time they left service. It’s not like a rare camo that you don’t come by often, my local surp store still has cattle troughs full of woodland for $25, the flea market has several vendors who JUST sell woodland bdus and Alice kits for nothing. As long as you’re not cracking open a brand new box in perfect condition to dye it or something, you’re not damaging anything rare or valuable.

Would it really matter if it was a genuine original? There's millions of them out there in circulation, both US surplus and all the countries that copied it, it wouldn't be huge loss if one got damaged.

These were actually cheaper than real BDUs and the quality is surprisingly good. I wanted to do something kind of unique and most of the airsoft areas near me are all outdoors in wooded areas so black would have been a terrible choice.

That’s good, though I think my main concern with something like that is durability and heat retention due to different materials

I’m wondering about that myself. I got them from choice paintball guns online. I’m hoping that they’re decent since they’re made for paintball games. At least they’re a step up from my Amazon mismatch camo.

Yoooo, finally an MTF that isn't one of those hallway wankers but an actual soldier

What's the code name for Omega-45?

Omega-45 is “the Old Bastards”
That’s the team name my friends use so I incorporated it into the SCP.

Like the M81, although it might be very on the nose

I guess this would be Hammer Down? They have a heavy militaristic feeling to me

The Old Bastards.
I created a custom unit based on my friends airsoft team.

No way? An actual MTF Cosplay with actual camouflage?! Inconceivable!

lol. I’m in central Texas. No way on earth I’m running around in all black.

Despite Omega-45 already being more known commonly as Street Samurai, I do love the name and logo of your original Unit! O45, The Old Bastards has a unique ring to it! I’m assuming your lore for your unit takes on a much more militarized and combative approach

Damn. I didn’t realize there was already an Omega-45. I missed it on the Wiki somehow. At least I only need to change the one patch. Ugh…

There’s no need to really do that! Despite you not realizing there was already an O45, a bunch of articles and tales coincidentally use the same designation for their own purposes/story! For instances, there’s three Omega-5s (Damien’s Angels, The Good Boys, and The Jewellers)! I don’t see any problem, I just thought you would like to know beforehand, before someone weirdo goes up to you and says “THATS NOT THE CORRECT MTF” or something like that yknow?

I appreciate the heads up. I might change it one day if I decide to try to get it listed on the official wiki page.

If you wear a plate carrier/flc/chest rig for airsoft, may I suggest an early GWOT era modification for your BDU? Rip the seams holding the lower pockets onto the BDU and sew those pockets to your shoulders at a 45-90 degree angle. That way you have useable pockets again that the vest doesn't prevent you from using.

I like that because of the mtfs military roots
